Somos viajantes frequentes e membros privilegiados do jet. Você precisa comparar Visa Signature Vs Mastercard World. Eu estou segurando o cartão VISA All miles, foi-me dito que eu vou estar recebendo 4 acessos lounge gratuitos. A partir do próximo ano, eles cobram 99 dólares no meu cartão. Meu amigo ficou assim no mês passado. Eu tenho abaixo as consultas. 3. O que o lounge gratuito realmente significa? Significa carregar o passe e entrar no lounge do aeroporto sem pagar? 4. Now please tell what should I do for the Lounge Access. I have a VISA SIGNATURE ALLMILES CARD. Should I change my Card or Will I get lounge access without the priority card. I am travelling to US next month. Please suggest me what to do. You can get access simply by swiping Your Visa Signature card in most of Domestic lounges. For international lounges, they is no other way other than having PP card. I was trying to book a ticket today on allmiles website and realized that now it is Rs 0.5 per reward point as against rs0.75 earlier. É verdade? For tickets worth Rs 7.7k, it is showing some 15k+ points required. I have Hdfc Superia credit card with limit of 1.2lacs, I have that card from last 3 years, I do fly 4 or 5 times within country n once or twice abroad. Monthly billing ranges between 15k to 40k, so should I upgrade it to all miles ? thought. Upgrading shouldn’t make any harm. Though, try for Regalia as it stands above Allmiles in many aspects. i have a HDFC allmiles mastercard which i tried to use in chennai airport lounge, but was declined. Tried calling the customer care but they said the lounge access is active. I got the mastercard for you helpline from this thread and i tried calling them. But i was informed that my card is not listed in the programme. Can you please help me out with this issue? So Priority Pass is complusory for ALL MILES Master Card but not for ALL MILES VISA SIGNATURE , and the same was experience yesterday at Chennai Airport, when my Brother used his ALL MILES VISA SIGNATURE without priority pass and got free access to lounge but my MOM was not given free access on her ALL MILES Master card. So now will have to apply for complimentary Priority Pass. And Fortunately they allowed 1 + 1 on my Dad’s Priority Pass… Did not knew they allow 1 + 1 on Priority Pass. That’s interesting about 1+1 on Priority Pass. If this is the issue, you can simply switch your Allmiles mastercard to VISA Variant. They’ll change it for free. Got this reply from HDFC BANK. “This is with reference to your e-mail regarding your HDFC Bank International credit card account. On receipt of your query, we have taken a detailed review on the same and wish to share our findings with you. We wish to clarify as per the Bank internal guidlines and process, master lounge facility was withdrawn from 01 May 2016. Hence we request you to fill and forward us the below URL form for us to issue the priority pass card to access the lounges. The form may be sent to the below address: HDFC Bank Cards Division. Chennai 600 041. Alternatively the same may be dropped in any of the drop boxes placed at our ATMs for your convenience. & # 8221; So does it means HDFC Credit card of Master Card variant wont have complimentary access to Airport Lounges without Priority Pass? Is that case VISA variant is better now since it can be used with Priority pass too though at few airport ? Looks like Priority Pass free access is removed as i can see from the link. Mastercard access should still be there. Call Mastercard Helpline to check free Visits. Whatsoever, Allmiles Visa Signature still allows for Lounge access, my friend used it last week. I have already applied for a priority pass card for my ALLMILES mastercard. But the mastercard lounge programme is still not available. I confirmed it by calling mastercard helpline. 2*4 mastercard lounge access is supposed to be there for allmiles card right? Both Mastercard & PP free lounge access revoked on Allmiles. I am carrying Regalia hdfc credit card. Total point in my card around 20k. Can I get domestic air ticket to redeem the points. What is the procedure should I follow. First redeem points to Regalia voucher and then book tickets. While boarding at JET AIRWAYS counter they allowed 50KG baggage instead of 45kg (for 3 people) saying since you have booked from HDFC CARD so we will allow 5 kg extra free 🙂 Well When i wrote to HDFC Bank with regard to not allowing free access at Chennai Airport Lounge on ALL MILES MASTER CARD, they should told me to apply for PP. So now i have applied for PP , so lets see if we receive it or not. And if Mastercard & PP free lounge access is revoked on Allmiles., then what is the point of giving PP 🙁 Will wait for PP and will try some other airport before switching to VISA. When they bring some new Premium Card over and above the other existing premium card then this existing premium card becomes very common and thus results into cancellations of all benefits . And when they reduce the eligibility criteria then we should be prepared for this revocation 🙂 I HAVE 20000 POINTS IN MY ALL MILES VISA CARD. WHICH REDEMPTION WOULD BE MORE BENIFICIAL RECHARGING OR PAYMENT OF MOBILE BILL (MY WHOLE FAMILY) OR BOOKING A FLIGHT. ? KINDLY SUGGEST. Current Value of 20k Points is Rs.10,000. Flight is the quickest option to redeem. However, you can recharge/billpay if you can use that much amount. Coz flights are on offers at times, but recharges doesn’t have much offers these days. Hi, recently I got all miles master card variant credit card. I have three queries. 1. Is this card enough to access domestic lounge or should I need PP to access domestic lounge . I have only master variant. 2. Is this access free of cost or later will it be charged in next statement.3. Can I use the lounge after arrival because I will be landing at wee hours? Mastercard Lounge access revoked. You might need Priority pass. Effective 01jun the value of 1 reward point is reduced to 0.5, so bringing the effective cashback to 1% Dear Mr Siddharth, I am using Visa signature card from 02 years and now i got a call to upgrade in allmiles . My card limit is 1.56 Lac . please advise ? . also i travel abroad 02-03 times in year . Waiting for answer. Ask for Regalia instead as it has better foreign currency markup fee. They’ll certainly do. Please advise which one is better to go for – citibank premier miles or HDFC All miles? Overall – Citi Premier Miles. I got upgrade to visa all miles card, should I send mail to customer care for getting priority pass? Eg: if I go to Chennai or Bangalore airport lounge will they accept my all miles card for free access ? Yes, mail them for PP. Actually for Chennai & Bglr, you can simply swipe your Allmiles Visa card itself for access. Check out my Bglr/Chennai lounge reviews and you’ll get more idea 🙂 Received Priority Pass with ALL MILES Card… So it is confirm as of today that Free PRIORITY PASS is issued for ALL MILES Clients too. can you send me the email id to request a priority pass just spoke to cc they told me to download the form etc .. also on the form its no where written about the free access. the have priced all at USD 27. anyone who has used the free service recently ? I got a priority pass card issued last month. So I don’t think it’s an issue now. I called the customer care & asked them for a priority pass card he just asked my a/c no. & amp; all and said that he has activated my request and within 3 days I received the card. And they said I have 4 free lounge access yearly. First of all I want to track you for all the information you are putting up in the blog. It’s through your blog, I came to know about the AllMiles card & its features. I have upgraded to Allmiles in May. Also got the Priority pass after lot of emails with Credit card senior grievance cell. CC was telling PP issuance have been stopped for Allmiles. I has used the PP last week also in Abudhabi & it was free. Now since the points are devalued should I ask for an upgrade? On an average I make 1round trip international travel every month. Is it possible to get a Diners club premium in addition to Allmiles? I have asked the RM & she told me that she will check & Avise-se me. My debit card is Titanium Royal. Is master card lounge access revoked for that card also? Any ideas?. Bank gave me to upgrade option to Jetairways Master card world debit card. What’s your opinion? You can upgrade after 6 months of holding the previous card. Yes, Titanium Royal MC Debit card has 2 free domestic lounge visits/quarter. I’ve personally used it as well. I was using the titanium royal card for domestic lounge acess in the past. Last week but it was denied at Bangalore Plazza premium. Then I had to use allmies card. That’s why I have a doubt whether MC lounge acess is revoked for this card also. Is Jetairways MC world debit card a good upgrade from titanium royal? I have been holding HDFC Platinum Edge since 2012. After reading reviews, I am thinking of upgrading my existing card to HDFC ALL MILES VISA SIGNATURE CARD as I am quite enthusiastic about having Priority Pass Free Membership with 4 nos of free access (Domestic/International) in a year. I hope this facility is still on. I have around 11000 points accumulated in my Platinum Edge card, which I want to redeem for Indigo voucher. Should I redeem points before going for upgrade, What do you suggest ? check how much points gets reduced after upgrade and compare the value of points before/after. That will answer your question 🙂 I WOULD LIKE TO APPLY FOR THE FIRST TIME A HDFC BANK CREDIT CARD. 1. I REGULARLY DO GROCERY SHOPPING. 2. I ALSO DO ONLINE SHOPPING. 3. I PAY FOR FUEL AT PETROL STATION. 4. I SHOULD GET CASHBACK. 5. I ALSO DO RETAIL SHOPPING AT RETAIL STORES. 6. I SHOULD GET TO WITHDRAW CASH INCASE OF EMERGENCY.. 7. I WATCH MOVIE OCCASIONALLY. 8. I DINE OCCASIONALLY. 9. I TRAVEL OCCASSIONALLY. 10. HDFC BANK CREDIT CARD SHOULD BE LIFETIME FREE. SO, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHICH HDFC BANK CREDIT CARD WOULD BE BEST FOR ME. Can reward point be included in bill to get discount by redewming the rp? Not possible on Allmiles. I am similar user like Leon..HDFC is offering lifetime free all miles card…is it worth using that card or do I need to opt for moneyback cc? Conselho por favor. All miles is good, go for it. Out of these two which gives more value. 1. HDFC All Miles. 2. HDFC Diners Club Rewardz. Bank is offering me both, hence I am confused. Could you please confirm which is the best out of these two. Diners Club rewardz is better, but if its your primary card, then you’ve to think about acceptance issues. Both my daughter and I have received all Miles Master/visa credit card BUT not yet received Airport Lounge Priority Pass. The contact Persons from HDFC were Sangeeta Kanoujiya +91 9167104xxx /Farah Ansari +91 9833469xxx . Drop an email to HDFC Support for a quick solution. Siddharth- I rearly travel in airlines and I am having the Allmiles card , Just want to check how can I make worth of the points which I availed. or suggest me if I can go for any other HDFC card. I do lots of shopping, so any card which can help me in Shopping/Dinning can work for me. Upgrade to Regalia if possible. You can simply redeem the points for Flights. I have HDFC AllMiles Master Card and points over 17k. if I select “Discounted Fare” during domestic return flight selection on AllMiles website, I can see some flight options but no way to select a flight and proceed. It gives “system error”. I wrote to allmiles customer care with step-by-step screen shots and they had no answer except “apologies for inconvenience”. If I untick “discounted fare” while entering the selection, I can see several flights but each flight charges displayed in Allmiles website are more than that on the individual airlines’ local na rede Internet. Por exemplo. Mum-COK return (between 24/12/2016-31/12/2016) on Allmiles website for Jet Airways for 4 pax = Rs. 75k. On Jet Airways for same selection, it is Rs. 52k. For discounted fare (just information provided on Allmiles website with no way to actually book tickets), it is Rs. 68k. 1. how to redeem my 17K reward points accumulated on AllMiles Master card and use it to book Jet Airways flight on the All miles website when the fares are shown inflated and more than any other website . 2. Is it possible to convert my 17k points from HDFC Allmiles card to JP Miles and then book teh tickets on Jet Airways website? Sometimes their site goes on maintenance which is why this issue happens. Maybe they’re yet to fix. I would highly suggest you to use the points for Prepaid/postpaid recharge. You can use Smartbuy/payzapp to book tickets and get 5x or 10x rewards. I have applied for Diners club rewardz card but I got all miles credit card. Is there same offer on all miles website as buy1get1 movie ticket offer in diners club website. What are the other benefits of this card except air travel? If I want to change it to diners whats the procedure? Sometimes they issue a different card when the eligibility is not met. You have to wait for 6 months to change. Hello Siddharth, I have been holding HDFC ALL MILES MASTER CARD since Feb/2016. And now HDFC is offering lifetime free Regalia Card. I have around 23K points accumulated in my HDFC All Miles MasterCard. Should I redeem points before going for upgrade, What do you suggest? Obrigado. Always redeem before upgrade, However, sometimes the value remains same. You got to do the math using the reward point value. Check both reviews for the same and you’ll get an idea 🙂 MY HDFC Allmiles credit card has 8,200 Redeem points, I would like to convert the redeem points to cash. So that I can decrease my Outstanding Limit . Please suggest the procedure to convert the redeem points to Cash. Points to cash not possible on Allmiles. Now they’re offering only INR 0.25 per reward point as opposed to INR 0.75 mentioned in this review. That is a huge devaluation wef. 01 Nov 2016. It sucks! I had 9k RPs and just realized the devaluation. Yes, its devalued a lot. Updated the same in article. Hello Siddharth, I am using this card from 6 months and around 6k rewards points has been accumulated so far. As seen in your post we can do postpaid bill payment but i am unable to find this option anywhere. I have selected redemption only option and inside the dropdown e voucher but it shows me a single voucher for all miles. Can you tell me exactly how pay the bill. Where i can find the option for that. Obrigado. You need to redeem as allmiles evoucher and then use it in Allmiles website for recharges & bill payments. I got my hdfc moneyback credit card with limit of 20000 But it was failed while doing 10,000 POS transaction, it was showing available cash 8000, till now I doesnt do any transaction?? I have taken multiple loans on my Allmiles credit card a year ago and now I want to pre-close all the loans including one personal loan and one Jumbo loan. Can I know the process of pre-closure of these loans. May I need to visit HDFC bank for this or can be done through phonebanking with customer care executive. Can the payment of pre-closure amount be done through online. I have around 5-6 loans that i want to clear now, pls suggest the option/process for pre-closure. You need to call customer care for this. they’ll charge additional 3% or so for pre-closure. I just recharged my DTH from all miles website for 500 Rs and it shows 2000 points. Are these Air Miles points only or can it be converted to reward points also? What is monetary value of these 2000 points? Reward Points converted to -> Allmiles Voucher -> use it on Allmiles website. That’s how it works. So i got 2000 points for recharging DTH from AllMiles website (I recharged DTH from Allmiles website) These are reward point or All miles. How much are they worth of ? Its already mentioned in the article. I’ve highlighted it now. 2000 Points = Rs.500 as you mentioned earlier. So I recharged for 500 rs and I got Rs 500 back !! That’s near to impossible 😉 Maybe you got 2k points along with other purchases done earlier. Ask HDFC for reward points breakup to find it. Yeah that’s what shocks me 🙂 In-fact I am trying to book flight tickets from allmiles website and for 4K flight it is showing you will get 14000 points . That’s huge. May be I will wait for HDFC statement to see how much point it is actually. Does HDFC updates points as soon as transaction got reflected in statement (like AMEX) ? Hey, i got your point. No, you’re taking the numbers wrong. Basically, what it means is, you can pay Rs.500 (or) pay using 2000 points which is equivalent to Rs.500. If you fly often, consider taking HDFC Diners Black (or) Amex plat Travel card to get some free flights. Btw, HDFC updates points in 2-3 days. Bonus points, if any might take 1-3 weeks. So 2000 points I cannot buy shoppers stop or any other merchandise for 500 but can redeem against air-miles of 500 right ? Yes Today I spoke to HDFC, I want Diner Black lifetime free 🙂 [no entry and annual fees] Let’s see , he will get back to me , looks tough. You can use it to redeem on Allmiles portal. Black – Legal. Its the best shopping card at the moment in the country. heyy really impressed from your knowlwdge. i want to know that how can i upgrade from all miles to regalia? and also is it possible that no annual fee applicable? Just ask customer care to upgrade or request in branch. is hdfc ALL MILES credit card (Mastercard) eligible for international online shoping such as from USA? So, as per the communication with HDFC phone banker last week, they have withdrawn the PP membership benefit atleast from All Miles (since December 1st). However, one of my friend applied for it on December 12th and got it in a week’s time. Can anyone confirm the latest status of PP? Its stopped. Maybe he got some luck 😀 Hi , I am not carrying my priority pass card and I am on work visit. I would like to know can I access the lounge on my return without the card around late March ? It’s says pp is getting stopped from March 2017 , also I would like to know if there is any other way to access lounge with visa all miles cc as it is mentioned 4*2 =8 from Visa and 4 from PP card total 12 free access ?? But how to avail ?? Can someone help me plssss. I HAVE JET PRIVILEGE HDFC BANK TITANIUM CREDIT CARD AND EARNED AROUND TO 22K POINTS, HOW CAN I REDEEM POINTS TO GIVE ME HIGH VALUE OF THESE POINTS, KINDLY SUGGEST, THERE HAVE TO FLIGHT OR OTHERS OPTIONS, WHAT IS YOUR KIND THINK. 22k Points is less, well, you can redeem it for some domestic flights. Tip: Wait for sometime and redeem when Jet comes with Redemption offers. COULD THESE 22000 POINTS REDEEM IN CASH BACK AMOUNT IF YES SO HOW CAN I REDEEM THE VERY POINTS OR HOW MUCH MONEY CREDITED IN MY HDFC CREDIT CARD STATEMENT. KINDLY REPLY FOR THE SAME, No, you have to redeem in Allmiles portal. hi, recd info that my priority pass membership obtained on my all miles visa signature credit card will cease effective march 2017 and no renewal or fresh issuance can be done. What is the alternative? My credit card is life time free. Shud i change the card. My spouse has also priority pass but issued on regalua credit card, can she apply one for me on her card. 1. Upgrade your card to Regalia. 2. Or, simply get Add-On card on your wife Ac. Gr8 article. I have 15684 points. I still can’t figure out how to redeem allmiles points for domestic flights? what is the best way? through allmiles website? For AirMiles redemption, it shows 3 options Air India, Jet Airways, Kris Flyer. Does this mean I can use points only for these 3 flights? What if I want to fly through GoAir or SpiceJet or IndiGo? Thanks for help in advance. You can simply redeem the points to Allmiles voucher and then book any Air tickets directly from their portal. I dont think the e voucher option is available anymore (Generic voucher which can be redeemed on the All Miles website). I have done this before where I generated an InstaEvoucher and then used it on the All miles website. However now under the Redemption options, there is a catergory Travel and Lifestyle where only Makemytrip hotel and vacation vouchers are available. Por favor corrija-me se eu estiver errado. I am holding HDFC All miles from past 7-8 months with 1L limit. My usage has been consistently. 50%. Visited the bank today and they asked me to submit the ITR if I want to upgrade the card. My annual income is 18L but gross income is only 9L, so I pay tax only on 9L. Would this ITR be enough to upgrade to Regalia original ? More likely to Regalia First and then to the original card. But if your banking relationship is good, you may get it straight away. I don’t think they would give me the original card then. I have all my money in SBI but SBI refuses to give me anything above than their Platinum and that too with just 50k limit. I should slowly start moving the money to HDFC. Can you suggest best possible card that I can get for this given ITR from any bank ? I am using all Miles and i redeemed the points. But i want to use the same for online shopping. is it possible to use? Bcz i am using prepaid mobile. and no need air ticket and all. >?? how can i use this. Por favor me ajude. Hi, is there a limit on daily spend on this card? Hi, for some reason Hdfcbankallmiles webpage is not functioning neither is the e-voucher option reflecting in the point redemption page. Been trying this since the past week or so from different pc’s. I presume there has been some technical concern. Have logged a complain through the customer care portal. Does anyone have any update regarding this? Thank you (in adv.) Do not purchase all miles card it work on all miles website which never work this you get the reward points on card but not able to use them. Worthless useless card from hdfc making fool .. I have an HDFC All Miles card since March-16. Wasnt aware of the benefits it was giving previously till I read your article today. Indeed a good read and would have been better if I had a chance to read the same earlier. Nevertheless, better late than never. Any idea, how much time does it generally takes to upgrade from the All Miles card to the next level card. I think Regalia. I am having my Salary account also in HDFC bank and was upgraded to All Miles Card in March-16. Also let me know the conditions, which cause the upgrade in the card. Obrigado. Hi I have HDFC All miles Regalia card, when i got this card the HDFC executive said its useful for people who travel often. I am returning from Brazil in two weeks and my transit time in Doha is about 18 hours, i would want to use the Airport lounge as this transit time is quite long to sit at the Airport terminal. Is the Airport lounge with my All miles Regalia is free of charge as i don’t understand how this works and what do i have to do to avail this. I have a HDFC ALL MILES card since June 2015. And it is purely life time free card. As i am an existing customer of HDFC BANK, bank upgrades my card after each 3 years. my card will expire in coming june 2018. still to pass one year more. but the rewards points redemption is a headache for me now. only 25 paise i am getting for one reward point. And that also can’t be cash back .only limited offers. i tried a lot to talk with customer care of HDFC BANK to upgrade this card to a better card. my question is that if the card will be upgraded then can i get the upgraded card also life time free or not. also how can i upgrade this card shortly. I have been using hdfc all miles credit card which i dont find much exciting. Many of my friends use credit cards and then they fly once a year free which i find interesting although i have been using hdfc cards for last 10 years and they keep on upgrading my card and limit i.e, 2.5 lac limit latest. My monthly spending on credit card is 30,000 average. Which card you suggest?? Will appreciate your prompt response. What is the maximum limit for unused allmiles reward points, which will not be elapsed? I have redeemed my allmiles reward point and generated e voucher code which is valid for 1 month, but i m not able to understand where and how to use it.. can anybody guide me on this.. it would be great help as my voucher code is going to expired in one week. You can redeem in diners club website for flight and hotel bookings. If the voucher gets expired the points are credited back to your card. HDFC Regalia First Credit Card Review. HDFC has added two new variants of Regalia called Regalia First and Doctor’s Regalia recently to their physical application form which i noticed last week by mid July 2016. This new card is added as soon as Allmiles card got devalued recently. They have to differentiate Allmiles and Regalia First which is the whole reason for Allmiles devaluation. Wondering what HDFC is actually trying to do by doing this. Maybe they don’t want many people to get hands on with the original Regalia. Lets dive into the details.. HDFC Regalia Primeiro Cartão De Crédito. HDFC Regalia First Rewards and Benefits: There is no change in point earning rate but the point value is way too low (Rs. 0.40 per point) whereas original regalia point value is Rs.0.75. Normal reward points (4 RP for Rs.150 Accelerated reward points (8 RP for Rs.150 ) 1 Reward point = Rs. 0.40. While the reward points remains same, the major difference i see is in the Priority pass lounge access limit and reward point value. The original regalia card has 12 Free access whereas Regalia first has only 4 Free access which is same with Allmiles. Features of Regalia Credit Card: CardExpert Rating: 3.5/5. 1% normally, upto. 2% on accelerated rewards Accelerated Rewards: You can earn 2X Reward points on dining, selected air bookings and for purchases done on regalia website. Complementary Airport lounge access: Yes, up to 4 free accesses to the Priority Pass lounges every year & 2 Lounge access per quarter through MasterCard Lounge or Visa Lounge Program Fuel Surcharge Waiver: 0% surcharge (Minimum transaction of INR 400. Maximum cash back of INR 500 per statement cycle) Foreign Exchange Markup fee: 2% + Service Tax (Best Credit Card for Foreign travel) Special Features: Better Markup Fee, Better Rewards Insurance Coverage : Air accident compensation of Rs. 50 Lakhs, Protection worth up to Rs. 10 lakhs against any medical emergency when you are traveling outside India. Personal Concierge Service: Global Concierge Assistance for all your travel & other needs. Its kind of virtual assistant service over phone. (I’ve tried, its kind of useless) Its hard to differentiate Regalia First & Allmiles Card. While the reward rate through points remain same 1%, the difference is better forex markup fee, insurance and also Mastercard lounge access is not yet revoked for Regalia range of cards i guess. Overall, you get a Premium feel in just ‘looks’ with half the benefits compared to its original version, especially in lounge access and point value. If you hold Allmiles or Moneyback credit card, you can give a try to upgrade to Regalia First and i’m sure they won’t be having any strict rules to issue this card. March 2017 Update: Priority Pass issued by HDFC is now chargeable ($27) for Domestic Lounge Access. You can now use them only to access international lounges. You’re now left with Visa/Master card lounge access which is inbuilt with the card. What do you think about this unwanted version of Regalia? Makes any sense? Do share your views below. Eu sou um cartão de crédito freak pontos de recompensa e cashback por anos. Obcecado com a aviação, lounges de aeroportos e viagens de luxo a um custo acessível. 242 thoughts on “ HDFC Regalia First Credit Card Review ” Hi, Each Reward point earned with Regalia First card is worth only 40 paise when redeemed… Just updated the info accordingly. So Regalia first gives half the value back compared to original Regalia. Reward point is now worth 30paisa… >:( My Regalia First card is life-time free. Can I upgrade to the original one for free? i am having sbi platinum card for the past two years. till now they have not increased my limit. if i am calling to customer care they r telling currently there r no offers. but at the same time in kotak bank they have increased my limit. what is the reason? secondly, i would like to apply credit card in indian bank, bank of india, punjab national bank, union bank of india, central bank of india and indian overseas bank. but all these banks are saying that either we should have an one year account or any loans running in their bank. i don’t know why they are saying like this… kindly help me sir. thanks and regards, Take credit cards in Private banks. They’re the ones that give more benefits and higher limits. All miles have 0.50 rs value and this have 0.40 so all miles ppl dont have any benefits…dey will loose 0.10…any other benifit in regalia first compare to all miles? Lounge access, insurance & forex markup fee is better on Regalia First. While point value reduced, the overall value back via points is same in allmies/regalia first. THANKS A LOT BRO FOR REPLYING. AND CONTINUE THE G8T WORK. i am hdfc bank regalia card holder with 2.6lakh limit.i want to know about next upgrade and limit enhancement. You can try Diners Black. my regalia card with limit 2.6lakh and my usage is very low and i am holding only this single card and my cibil score is 836 .my question is that in this case is bank increase my limit in future. If usage is less than 50%, limit enhancement maybe tough. After all, why would you need more limit while you aren’t using the available limit. That’s how bank see! hello after which credit limit one expect to upgrade to regalia card. 2L or above is good number. Though it depends upon the relationship with bank, usage, etc. This card comes free for lifetime . Indus ind platinum Aura card also comes – free for lifetime. Can you suggest other cards free for lifetime with airport longue access ? I know HDFC money back card, Indus ind platinum aura , RBL cards are free for lifetime. Any other cards ?? My HDFC Regalia card mentions WORLD below mastercard logo. O que é isso ? It is not visa signature card. ? is it same ? The customer care officer on HDFC says, for Regalia card – only upgrade possible is Imperia. Dinners card will be downgrade and not upgrade from Regalia card. Its Regalia Mastercard World. You can try upgrading to Diners Black or Infinia after 6 months. I want to get a credit card for the first time. I have been offered regalia first, but from the comments I see diners black is better. Please advice if there is any other alternative. Diners black wont be offered initially, if you get, its one of the nice cards around. All miles have 0.50 rs value and this have 0.40 so all miles ppl dont have any benefits…dey will loose 0.10…any other benifit in regalia first compare to all miles? Actully Allmiles will gain .10 paisa per 150 RS spent, IN all miles you get 3 points per 150, point value 50 paisa making 1.5Rs per 150 spent. In Regalia firest you get 4 points per 150, point value 40 paisa making 1.6 Rs per 150 spent. you said that you got bussiness regalia card in 11/2015 with limit less than 2l and after 9 months your card is upgraded to diners black and you says minimu limit required for diners black is 5l so how it is possible that bank is increased your limit around 3 times in less than one year. Anything is possible when you have good relationship value with the bank. What does good relationship value means? can you please clarify. At least give some pointers money wise. More savings/current a/c balance.. preferred or imperia customers.. home loans, etc. Anything from which bank earns money from you. Is Regalia original still continuing? that gives reward value of 0.75ps. I have superia card and have option to upgrade the card to VISA PLT Moenyback International ? should i go for it ? another option of regelia which they are offering. I have been asked to upgrade from Diners premium to regalia first. Should i go ahead. I am confused which one is better. Better ask for “Regalia” instead of “Regalia First” I have received Regalia first. What is the remedy now? I havent activated the card yet? Moreover the card received is of Master card and not visa signature which means there is no domestic lounges except for those 4 in priority pass. How should i move ahead. I am a frequent traveller and need a travel card with good lounge benefits. Ask for Visa Signature variant. they’ll replace it for you. The website says, Regalia first master card members, does not have access to domestic lounges through the credit card. it will be only through priority pass. It this information correct. You have mentioned above that it will be 2 per quarter. Please reply asap. You can still access Visa lounges on Visa Signature variant. I have tried using Regalia First VISA Signature First on various lounges (Bangalore/Delhi) but it has never worked. PP of course works. Would you know if there is restricted lounge access on this card in spite of this being a VISA Signature card? P.S> I have quite a fan of your blog and keep coming back for gyaan! Mantenha o bom trabalho. Thanks for being a regular reader 🙂 It should have worked, else you might be running out of visits. In bangaloare, Visa access is there only for one lounge – Plaza Premium. I’ve reviewed all of them, did you check them out? isso pode ajudar. The below has been updated in regalia first features in HDFC website. 1) A per visit charge of $27* will be applicable for any accompanying/additional guests. 2) With effect from 1st Mar’2017, All domestic visits and also 4th International visit for both primary card holder & Add-on card holder through Priority Pass will be chargeable at the rate of $27* Does this mean that Airport Lounge Access will be chargeable? All domestic Lounge visits are chargeable on Priority Pass. You’re now forced to use Marstercard/Visa for Domestic Lounge Access. 6 PP Visits complimentary only for International Lounges. I’ve a HDFC Money Back card and I’m being offered a Regalia First Mastercard as a free upgrade with no annual/renewal fee. Is it worth the upgrade? Desde já, obrigado. Please point out some benefits of Regalia First over Moneyback card. Currently using Moneyback card, planning to upgrade in couple of months. Mostly I spend on Online shopping, so I prefer SmartBuy to get 10X Rewards. Then, redeem them to my statement. Obviously I will ask them for Regalia, but just in case they don’t allow, which one would be better for me to upgrade ? I am an HDFC superia Life time free master credit card holder with 2.5 lac limit since 2013, My card is due for renewal next month and i had been upgraded to Money back platinum Master credit card recently. I spoke to HDFC customer Care executive and expressed my dissatisfaction about their upgrade to moneyback. He suggested me to send the upgrade form to Chennai along with necessary documents. During last year 2015-2016 I had drawn a salaried annual income with perks and perqusities of Rs. 12.84 lacs duirng last year. I am a salaried official of SBI drawing gross monthly income of Rs. 76,000/- and net monthly income of Rs. 40000/-. I had applied for upgrade to Life time free Regalia Master Credit card instead of existing money back intl card provided to me. My track record of card usage and payment is excellent. Will the bank consider my request and upgrade to Regalia variant. Limit is good enough for Regalia. So yes, you will most likely get it. Mr. Ramesh since your credit card is 3 years old I would like to ask you that your card have not got any credit limit enhancement ever ? I have HDFC Visa All Miles Credit Card from September 2015. The card came with a credit limit of Rs. 1,50,000 and they have not increased it ever ( though I was told by credit card representative from my Branch that credit card limit will be increased after 6 months if the credit utilization is high) . I utilize about 95% of my limit every month and I pay total amount due every month without any delay . I have asked HDFC call center to increase my credit card limit many times but every time say that I do not have any offers in my card. I would like to send a credit card upgrade / limit enhancement form and my latest IT Return to HDFC, Chennai office. So do you think that HDFC will upgrade my card to Regalia and my limit will be increased ? I will file IT return of Rs. 2,70,000 or if it is necessary I can also file IT return of Rs. 4,00,000. What do you suggest ? My CIBIL score is 769. 2.7L on IT is too low for Regalia. If you really want regalia. 4L IT is good and process the upgrade+limit enhancement through your RM and you’ll certainly get it. Note that bank wants you more to spend on shopping/travel websites to send you more offers. That was a super quick response . Muito obrigado . hello madhuri in my view hdfc bank has no rule for limit increase because in my case since sep.2013 i hold hdfc card they initially give me 50k limit and use of my card is very low 2-5% only per month some time 0% but on 1/1/14 bank increase my limit to 80k and after thar in november 2014 they upgrade my card to allmiles with 200000 limit and on august 2015 they upgrade my card to regalia life time free and 0n feb 2016 my limit is increased to 3.8l and on 11/08/2016 on net banking bank offered me credit limit of 4.9l and same time bank is also offered me a jumbo loan of 6l and one interesting thing i want to share with you bank says use card more and more for limit increase but since i hold card i only spent a total 0f 184517 rupees only and now my next card upgrade is infinia card and i have no ITR and no salary slip because i am a farmer. Yes Pankaj. There is no sure shot thing to understand how bank offers Limit Enhancement and Card Upgrade. I am sharing my experience. Sept 2015, opened Salary account in HDFC. Mar 2016, there was a camp by HDFC, they offered me AllMiles card with limit 60k. I took it as I it was my first CC and was just happy to get EMI options. around Jun 2016, they increased the limit to 90k. Nov 2017, offered MoneyBack card. Dec 2017, offered Credit Limit to 187000. Now, I am planning to ask for Card upgrade in few months. I have Salary Account in HDFC since 2015 and a decent CIBIL Score. Sir Captain Bishuddha Bharatiya , My limit got enhanced every year and at present it is Rs. 2.5 lacs. Mr. Ramesh thanks a lot for your reply. My All Miles credit card is 12 months old. I am desperate to get my card limit increased. Hope they will do it now. Can’t wait anymore. It will be very helpful Mr. Ramesh if you can tell that your credit card came with how much credit limit and how many times and how much limit was increased every time ? I have the option to chose between Regalia First and Diners premium which card should i choose. I am interested in lounge access. Plus i also wish to have an add on card for my wife. Regalia First has no benefits of lounge for add on. Does Diners premium have any . Eu não faço ideia. Please suggest asap so that i can confirm the bank accordingly. “Regalia” has the add-on priority pass feature which will help. but Diners premium don’t have. however, am unsure about regalia first. Check with bank. With regalia first they are giving priority pass with only four lounge access(domestic + international) Diners premium website says 5 international and unlimited national. Still should i go for priory pass + Regalia first or. Well, the answer is with you 🙂 If you need more lounge access u have to go for Diners. Not to forget, with most mastercard debit cards, you get free domestic lounge access 2/quarter. The confusion was whether diners is widely accepted internationally in comparision to Priority pass. Thats why raised the point which is better PP or diners. You can check it on respective websites to the countries to visit. PP generally gets accepted almost in every lounge. I don’t have a credit history and bank is offering regalia card against a 4l fd. Is it worth it if I just want to have a credit card? Most likely not going to use lounges and other travel benefits. Rgds. As long as other benefits are useful to you, yes, you can get it. What’s the eligibility to get this card? 1.Yesterday I was received regalia first card from hdfc with 1 lakh limit and already hold axis privilege card with 1 lakh limit. 2.but I was applied diners premium card. 3.and if I will hold this card or ask cus care to change for diners premium or anything.is it possible to get. Diners premium tough with this limit. If you use it high, you have a chance. My current limit is 2.96 lac. I need Regalia card, but they are offering regalia first instead. My annual CTC is around 16.75 & monthly salary ranges between 1.10 to 1.20. bank says i am not eligible for upgrade to Regalia. However customer care asked to send a form to Chennai, but he wasn’t convincing either. Do you think i will get the card? How many days do they take to deliver the card? I want to make a international payment of 3lac next week. Por favor ajude. Yes, you’ll possibly get approved if you send the IT docs to chennai. I would however suggest you to try through RM, it has better success rate 🙂 Go to hdfc bank branch fill the form and drop it in the drop box…..u will get card within 10 days if everything is fine….. u cant get card within 5 days…they take time to process…….i also applies through branch in the same way…….. What is “world” mentioned above mastercard logo in my regalia first card.. Its the master card variant. How do I qualify for an upgrade from Regalia First to Regalia. I want the extra lounge visits and Taj membership. Use Card regularly for Entertainment & Travel spends. 1.Limit upgrade is only possible after 6 months or any other way to short period to upgrade. Possible after 3 months if you have updated (increased) salary documents. Which is better Visa or MAstercard variant in terms of lounge access?? Also I checked with Cus Care they said i will get 4 lounge access on PP but nothing on Creditcard.. IS it so?? Mastercard is better. Yes, no lounge access on Regalia First “credit card”. Its available on the Original Regalia only. Could you elaborate as to why the MasterCard is better? Usually for Lounge access. I was recently at my local HDFC branch. I have a MoneyBack card with them against an FD of INR 60k and limit of INR 45k. I’ve had this for 2 years now, with consistent usage (min 1k max 35-40k per month) and autopay turned on. They offered me the Regalia First, with fees waived if you signup for SmartPay (payment of a postpaid bill, for example). Quite surprising, this is supposed to be a super premium card! But here I am, waiting on a free Regalia First with a 45k credit limit! (Though I am a Preferred customer along with the rest of my family, so maybe that’s why..) Anyway, just wanted to share this information with you / your readers 🙂 Yes, happens. They issue easily for Preferred Customers. The Original Regalia is getting tough to get though. Any idea what I could apply for next? (Eyeing Regalia & Diners). Do I have to contact my RM for the Diners card? I do everything online and haven’t even met the last 3 RMs assigned to me. They keep changing! Diners is good for 10x rewards and lounge access. It all depends on what benefit you’re looking for! Last year when I was in Gujarat, one of my aqentences held Branch managers post and suggested that I open an account with HDFC which would give me Regalia Visa signature card. I would also have Priority Pass with 5 annual free entry to Airport lounge world wide. It will be year in October of getting the card. I have so far not used or activated the credit card as in London there are no HDFC branches. I only visit India once or twice a year and I do not need to use the credit card but this time I may use it when I use airport lounge in London when I visit India and pay for my wifes enterence to lounge. The only attraction to obtain Priority pass was to use the Airport lounge and this limited to 5 entry a year. My wife will have to pay what ever the charges are applicable currently or swipe the card twice. My limit is Rs.300.000. I do not need any loan as I have other bank account with ICICI, Bank of India and Bank of Baroda and they are all current accounts and without credit card facility. I need to know how can the credit card be activated and also change the bank provided pin number to one of my choice. Do I only have to pay by HDFC Visa signature card when using the Lounge with Priority card. Generate OTP from net banking and visit ATm to set your own PIN. Just swipe the PP card, if you exceed free accesses, they will charge your CC automatically. I don’t have a CC in-hand atm (although I carried an ICICI Platinum previously but one day got super pissed when they charged me for using my payback points so I cancelled it). I have also got a few credit cards in USA and Singapore in the past (none of which are active anymore) I do have bank accounts in Axis and ICICI (HDFC offered me to open a new account but I got tired of managing so many accounts) Now here’s the thing: I recently spoke to a Sales Rep at HDFC when I walked into their office and the guy insisted on me getting a CC (which I don’t mind as long as its a LTF). With my current net salary being just a tad below 1.2l / month (which seems to be the minimum threshold for Regalia), the rep told me I qualify for Regalia First. The kicker though is: he says there’s no difference between Regalia and Regalia First other than the number of free lounge stays. If that’s the case, then what’s with the 1 RP = 0.40 RP being different to original Regalia? The brochure he shared with me shows identical returns for Regalia? Or could it be a case of him not being entirely honest (or maybe its me who’s misunderstanding) Either way, I’d appreciate it if you could clarify for me the key differences between Regalia and Regalia First (other than the lounge access ofcourse). As much as I love traveling, I’m just not doing much nowadays while I don’t get enough lounge use for this difference to be a deal breaker. A lower RP valuation is a different matter though. Secondly, I would also love to know what you feel about having an account with HDFC. My company has a direct affiliation with HDFC so I can always open an account anytime – just as long as its worth it (I really don’t want any more tedious bank management – I’m always up for a fresh experience though) Cheers and apologies for the long winded response. Well, forget HDFC and start using US Credit Cards 😉 They have insane offers. Yes, HDFC a/c is good. You can get Regalia even after 6 months of Regalia First usage. You can also get Regalia Directly if your Company (with good current a/c usage) can recommend you 🙂 Please suggest which credit card is better in terms of reward points, flight booking, airport lounge access, shopping and cashback. HDFC Regalia First or Standard Chartered Landmark Rewards Platinum Card? Is there any other credit card which you want to suggest? I started my credit card journey with basic card with the limit of 18000. Later moved to the Gold…. Platinum… and went on… Now I am holding Regalia Credit Card with the limit of 800000. I do all the transaction over credit card only like mobile bill, purchasing, broadband, electricity bill, water bill, Insurance and many more.I have never missed any payment from past ten years. And currently I have rewards points around 70000. I am looking to convert this towards card. Is there anyway I can convert this to cash? I do not want to shell out this points to buy gifts.. I have already used close to 30000 points in buying items form reward catalogue. Looking forward for some valuable hints and points. That’s an impressive credit limit Prabhu and 10 yrs is long enough as well. 70k reward points value is 42k INR (60ps per point now) if redeemed on their website. Only way to use it is on flight tickets & mobile recharges. Consider taking your family for a vacation 🙂 Which card is better HDFC Regalia First or Diners Club. i am looking for a card who provide benefit of movie ticket 1+1. hdfc providing me diners card first but after seeing my transaction they said you can also go for Regalia first card. Is movie ticket benefit is available with Regalia card. Can you please suggest which card should i go.I am only looking benefit of movie ticket. Jet privileges or regalia first which one is better? They both are completely different. I received a card upgrade from All miles(After devaluation of rewards) to Regalia First and Jet Privilege Platinum as choices. I have choosen Regalia First and they told that they will give World Master Card as per the previous card. Which one is good for domestic and international lounge access, World Master Card or Visa Signature?? Go for Visa Signature, coz some say that Mastercard lounge access not avail on Allmiles/Regalia First. hi on which credit limit is eligible to get upgrade to regalia first currently i have 52000 rs limit. 1.5L around is good to go. But bank give me online offers for upgrade from money back to regalia first at 52000rs limit ltf. i saw today on hdfc broucher two new cards bharat cash back and freedom card both of has annual fees 500rs. I have received a card upgrade offer from Money back to Regalia First card. Please advise which one should I opt for on the basis of the features they offer. Also, let me know the criteria for being eligible for Regalia original. Thanks for you help in advance. Upgrade it and wait for another 4-6 months to get original regalia. Hi, i have just taken hdfc regalia first credit card. i got it for life time free. they said i am eligible for this credit card since i had a loan and my sal was above 70k. I need clarification for lounge access. My icici coral debit card (visa) gives me 2 free per quarter. what about this other than priority pass.? I have got visa version. do i have access to it? How to use priority membership? just swipe the membership card or credit card, little confusing. Check out My latest post on Priority Pass. That should clear all your doubts 🙂 I have received my Regalia First CC last month and already used it. Now I came to know this card is not eligible for lounge access (except priority pass). Can it be changed to Visa signature if I pursue? I travel a lot, hence lounge access is a prime criteria for me. Yes, that should be fine. But if you do this, the linked priority pass will no longer work and they will issue new ones. 1.how upgrade regalia first to diners black. 2.if any chance to get FD based upgrade. 3.already I have preferred a/c with decent transactions and current limit is 1 lakh. Limit low for Black. For the last 8 years i am using HDFC Bank’s different types of Credit Card, currently i am holding HDFC Visa Superia Lifetime Free Credit Card, i have a limit of 1,95000, i have been offered to upgrade my existing card to Regalia First, for your info i am a Classic Customer of the bank & i used to spend near about 2,10,000 per year & i am a good pay master who never forget to settle dues in time, well, after going through your opinion i came to learn that Original Regalia is way better than what i have been offered, now my question is whether i am eligible to get Original Regalia instead of Regalia First or not? if yes, then how to do that? Apply for Upgrade to Regalia + Limit Enhancement and it has to go through, considering your usage history. Thanks a lot Siddharth! very nice site. great info man…. I am being offered a regalia first card by a sales rep. who called me randomly and he said that it can be LTF if I use smart pay or take an add on card with it.. I want to ask whether they will give me in writing that its LTF . and how to go for REgalia and that tooLTF…. any other good comparable card recommendation thats LTF.( life time free is the main criterion )…..sorry for too many questions.. I have Regalia First, SBI Platinum, CItibank Premier miles & ICICI Jet Dual Coral card Visa & Amex (I will discontinue this) Which one is the best bank for the buck? I want to plan a travel by year end so Regalia and Premiere Miles if I want to collect points which one should I opt for as Regalia First gives me 4 points on 150 spent and Premiere Miles provides 4 miles on 100 spent. I have huge spends month on month so if I stick to one card would make sense to collect enough points or miles to my benefit. Would need your advice on which one to use and keep. Dear sir, I have Regalia first card. But it is working only through online payment/ transaction. Its not working for Physical transaction. Yesterday I have tried many times at store and petrol pumps but it did not work. It was showing transaction declined, tpn cardholder, call to issuer etc. I also called to customer care they said card is ok, don’t have any problem with card. And it’s working at HDFC atm because I changed my pin. And I just got the card yesterday. Please help me sir in this matter. I will be highly thankful to you. I have Hdfc money back card, the bank is offering me an upgrade to regalia first. I am drawing a net monthly salary of 75 K but still they wont give the regalia (original) as they need minimum 1.2 lacs net per month salary is this a new development for reagalia card issuance? Last month upgraded my money back card to Regalia First card with without limit increase current limit is 49K, how can I increase my limit . Is there possible ? and also having two SBI Simply and SBI FFB card with 50 K for this reason I am having low in regalia first limit ? You can request for limit enhancement every 6 months. I was using HDFC regalia First card to buy Amazon India gift card. But I was unable to do so as the payment option was not accepting my card saying it is issued outside India. Is it with all regalia/regalia first credit card , or I got unlucky ? What to do now ? Pode ser um problema temporário. Make sure your card is active. it has to pass through. I got Regalia first card couple of weeks back and checked with MasterCard helpline, they are saying I don’t have Airport Lounge access on that card. Even on HDFC Regalia First Website MasterCard Lounge program pages takes to a page where it says Offer Expired. On the same page Visa still shows lounge access program and list of lounges one can visit. Any idea how do I request for affiliation change ? Yes, its available only on original regalia. You can write an email or ask Customer care guys to switch it. 1.if limit enhancement is possible against fixed deposit.if possible then how much I will open FD. No, LE on FD based cards. Your blog is very informative and gives more awareness. I like to inform that I received my Regalia First kit today but it did not had any priority pass in it being primary holder. I checked the HDFC Regalia First credit card page where it stated that “Priority Pass membership is on request. Customer has to complete 4 transactions in a statement within the first 90 days to be eligible for Priority Pass membership. Upon completing the 4 transactions in a statement, a link on which Priority Pass could be applied will be sent to customer post the statement is generated. & # 8221; I was very surprised to see this since it was not before when I applied on 4th Jan. The only reason to apply was to get Priority Pass and now I need to deal with some changed terms and conditions to receive the Priority Pass. Would be very please if you could help me to get the Priority Pass. Yes, they’ve added new conditions to reduce the Priority pass usages as it costs them too much money. You have to possibly do the txn’s on time to get hands on it. I got my Regalia First credit card yesterday but it did not have the Priority Pass. I checked on HDFC RegaliaFirst website where it stated that “Priority Pass membership is on request. Customer has to complete 4 transactions in a statement within the first 90 days to be eligible for Priority Pass membership. Upon completing the 4 transactions in a statement, a link on which Priority Pass could be applied will be sent to customer post the statement is generated. & # 8221; Could you please clarify which transactions are they referring since it was not present before when I applied for Regalia First Credit card on 4th Jan. Any retail transactions would do 🙂 One of the most beautiful reviews I have come across. I ain’t sure about the reward program, though, and never seem to run behind rewards 🙂 I use it only for the convenience that all my bills are under one roof. I have been using credit cards since a decade and only with one bank, HDFC. I have been using this card since a while and the only thing I liked about this is 2% cross currency markup. As I travel more and charge everything on my card. My card has got a decent limit of 3L, and I have turned down the request for Regalia, since I see no point in upgrading from Regalia first to Regalia as either way I will get 2%. I guess I have some more years before my current card expires. I have never seen any issues with some people suggesting we need to stick up with 10% or 20% of the usage. I completely max out my card most of the time, atleast more than 6 times during a year. But I make sure I pay off everything at the end of the billing cycle as my primary goal is to have every penny spent in a neat report. And I also think it gives me enough peace of mind, of not having to run and follow up with any points. I guess most of the points just come up and they expire or are unused. i havent used any of the points since my first card:) i have a question, which I try researching during my spare time. However, I have not had much success. What happens if the person who is holding credit card passes away. Does the debt fall on the next of his kin, even when there is no co-applicant. I have heard, if entire bills are cleared off and there is no outstanding of any thing on the CC expect the previous month’s bill, the bill is automatically cleared as CC carries some insurance. But this holds good only in case of death. É verdade? Could you throw some light. When the card doesnt have any credit shield, it will pass on to his kin on assets that were passed to the Kin ASIAK. I’m not sure how it actually works though. I travel frequently both domestic and internationlly and I am looking for Lounge access as my main privilege. Suggest the best amongst Regalia, Regalia First and all miles? Regalia is the topmost among the three Priyanka. That should help you with everything you need. I received a life time free regalia first credit card last week. My credit limit is 1.7 lakhs and net monthly salary is 60K approx. Do I stand any chance to get an upgrade to regalia after a few months? Yes you do, try after 6 months 🙂 Had Moneyback card for 4 years and tried for Regalia twice using physical form and got rejected. Then the only option left for me to ask for Regalia First and it got approved. Got Regalia First and it is better than Moneyback card in every way. What can I do to get the Diners Premium card as a secondary card to my Regalia First? Mainly for the Golf access (never tried. looks interesting) and lounge benefits. And of course the Diners rewards. Tough, though it depends on the Credit Limit. I have 5.7K points on my recently upgraded regalia first card , of which 5K points were accrued before the up-gradation. It says on HDFC website that regalia points expire every two years. I plan keep the points till end of two years from now and redeem. What would happen to my 5K points from earlier card in that case? Will it expire before two years from today based on the dates when those individual points got accrued. My previous card was platinum plus. Its never suggested to hold the points for more than a yr. 6 months is the best number. This is because the value of points gets devalued back to back every few months or an yr. I had an moneyback credit card which got upgraded to hdfc regalia first, recently. I wanted hdfc regalia. How long should I wait for the regalia.Should I send letter or ask RM. My credit limit is 2.2L and credit record is good. wait for 6 months and use the card as much as possible to increase the probability of upgrade. For the benefit of the everyone can you update the recent reduction in complementary PP lounge access for regalia and RF? From 12 to 6 for R, 4 to 3 for RF. Let me try to make a post for that. But i’ve already updated the respective articles. I have applied for a regalia first CC. My basic purpose of the CC is to swipe for international transaction like IELTS/PTE examination and also for some other immigration services over 3lac. Now my question is will i get reward points for these transactions as well? Because i saw one point in the T&C that the reward points will be applicable only in retail transactions. Is it valid in this case? Also i have to make one transaction of 3.5 lac at one go? Will HDFC increase my limit on request? You’ll get points on that. Limits depends on lots of factors. Recently i have receiced the Regalia first master card with a limit of 1.96 lakhs. Before applying for the card RM said that there is no annual/renewal charge for it as being corporate credit card. It is nowhere mentined about the exemption of such fee. It is also not mentioned what is the statement date. How can i b confirmed about them. I expect to use about 30 – 40 % of the limit every month clearing all dues in time. I got upgraded to regalia first recently and I have completed 10+ transactions in the first billing cycle and the bill is generated as well. As per HDFC website. “Customer has to complete 4 transactions in a statement within the first 90 days to be eligible for Priority Pass membership. Upon completing the 4 transactions in a statement, a link on which Priority Pass could be applied will be sent to customer post the statement is generated. & # 8221; I didn’t receive any links from HDFC so I called them up and they said even if I did more than 4 transactions I have to wait for 90 days to get the priority pass application link. This is contradictory to what their website says and doesn’t make any sense at all. Anybody facing the same issue? Any comments Sidharth? Maybe they’re discouraging people who get access to PP these days. If they say so, yes you got to wait. Consider yes bank preferred or Exclusive card if you’re keen on Priority pass. I sent a mail to their customer care and they dispatched the card. Looks like the person who attended my call earlier had no clue about the process. After making 4 transactions with the new credit card, let the bill get generated for that bill cycle. Within 10 days of bill generation, PP application mail would be sent to the registered email ID. If you dont receive the same, then u can complaint to the CC after 10 days of bill generation. They would take the complaint and send the PP immediately. I have recently received Regalia first master card and started its use. As I had been asked by the hdfc representative (RM) that I would have life time free corporate credit card as I am a central govt employee, but on dialing to the customer care I came to know that I will have to pay the annual charge which will be reflected on next bill. I want to know the reality of mis-guide by RM. These days you get LTF on doing some Payzap txn etc. talk to customer care. Once we get Priority Pass linked with Regila First card, do we need to pay any fee for PP membership or for each lounge access ? As per HDFC , PP membership is complimentary so I guess no fee.. as per PP, lounge access is free so guess no fee. Can you please make it clear ? And also we still can access lounge with Regila First even with PP ..right ? 4 Visits are free after which you’ll be charged 27$ per visit. I applied for a Regalia card by sending a physical form via a relationship manager. Think he mixed up and ticked Regalia First, and the application got approved. Now I have a Regalia First card, that too the MasterCard variant. I got two questions – 1) How soon can I submit a request for upgrade to Regalia? It’s only been days since I got the card. 2) Can I get the Visa Signature variant now? Se sim, como? Desde já, obrigado. 2. Yes, Just ask them. when you say the point value is .4 for RF, the only way to get this value is to redeem the points on their website? There is no cash adjustment against the bill due? Also for redeeming at their above website it seems we need to generate some voucher and then only we can redeem the points. And yes, the voucher generation charge is 75 Rs each time plus the points accrued are valid only for a duration of 2 years!! With all these stupidity for redeeming the points you still think this is a good card? Yes, you’re correct. Its still a good card post devaluations. Donot forget the 5X rewards 🙂 Currently I have a LTF Business Regalia first credit card with limit of Rs 75000. I am restricting my spendings to 30%(i.e. 22500 per month) so that I can have a good cibil score. i want to increase my credit card limit. I have an income of Rs 10 lacs an annum. Should I just wait and watch till HDFC increases my credit card limit or should I mail them to increase my limit with my ITR? or is there a third option? Also, I was thinking of applying for a 2nd LTF credit card. So, based on my ITR income of 10 lac rupees p.a., which bank will offer me with highest credit card limit and how much should i expect it to be? You can call their call center and check if their is any credit limit offer available for you, if offer is there they increase your limit over the call only by verifying you through OTP. Regarding your second part, difficult to get high credit limit with LTF variant. I will suggest you can get any good LTF card and try to increase credit limit after 6 months. I have recently applied for regalia first card and it is yet to be delivered. I had a couple of ques regarding PP – 1) Will I get the priority pass along with the credit card kit ? 2) If no then what is the process for getting the PP and how long does it generally take for the PP to get delivered? I am planning a trip to Singapore for the first week of April so wanted to know if I will have my PP by that time. My Platinum Plus got replaced with Regalia First (limit 1.5L) of Visa Signature. My questions are – 1. what will happen to the reward points ? 2. I am preferred customer with a corporate salary account, home loan with HDFC. Is it possible to get Regalia? what are the extra benefit? 3. Pardon my ignorance – what is this lounge facility and how to avail that? 1. They’ll be credited at 60% or 70% or whatever is applicable. 2. You can get it after 6 months, Check regalia vs regalia first. I am using a Diners premium Credit Card with the bank and having a good credit score…also I wanted another card from HDFC like regalia as they provide good benefits…i have researched other Cards as well but narrowed down to hdfc regalia. My usage is of travel Dining, majorly. I am also having savings account with them. Will I get another card from HDFC. It depends on lots of factors. Check with your RM. I am currently using the HDFC All Miles Credit Card. I want to upgrade to a better card. Preferably HDFC Bank only. So i was offered the following 2 Cards: 1. Regalia First. I am fine with Cards from other banks as well. Can you please suggest what i should go for. My usage isnt that much. I would like a card that would give me good reward points and other benefits such as lounge access, discounts etc. Por favor ajude. This is my first post on this group. Its you who got to decide if you want Miles or Reward Points 🙂 If its me, i’ll take Regalia First. Will I earn reward points on online payments and transactions done through Regalia First, as on the website it is mentioned “For valid Retail Purchases”. However, the personal banker said reward points can be earned through online transactions as well. Need clarification on this. Yes, you will get points for that. Its a retail spend. Ive just got my first credit card. Its a HDFC Regalia Master Card Variant. I was told by customer care that to get the Priority Pass i need to make 4 transactions within 30 days and there’s no threshold for the minimum amount of the transaction. My statement has gotten generated but I havnt received a link for applying for PP. Customer care said the link will self generate. I have the following queries- 1) How long does it take for the link to self generate? What if its still not generated till the last date to clear my dues? 2) Is the VISA variant better? Can i ask for a change even after using the MC variant? 3) Is the domestic access to airport lounges seriously chargeable now? Desde já, obrigado! 3. Only on PP. You can still use MC for domestic lounge access. I have a regalia first card. My limit initially was only Rs 75000. After 6 months, I put a mail to hdfc to enhance my credit limit and they revised my credit limit to Rs 1 lac which i feel is a very small increase. Should I have specified to increase my limit to Rs 150000 or does hdfc always increases the credit limit by a small amount? When asking for limit enhancement, is it safe to send our ITR copy along with the mail or should we send it only if they ask?? They increase the limit by marginal % even if ITR is shown. Usually 15-25% as i’ve seen it with over 5 HDFC cards. But if automatic enhancement comes you may get 2X the limit. My wife send her ITR and upgradation + LE form to Chennai and they increased her limit from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 75.000. I was very surprised. Oi. Obrigado pela revisão. I recently got my limit increased to 2L for my HDFC business moneyback card. I am also now eligible for Business Regalia first. I like the cashback that my current card offers but I am flexible enough to try other rewards also. Should I upgrade? Or should I try to apply for some other card within the 2L range. Preferable HDFC as all my current banking is with HDFC. But I dont mind trying another bank too. Is Diners rewards a good option, though it does not show in my available upgrades in my netbanking. I dont buy air travel much with my card. Thanking you in anticipation! Moneyback is better in this case, especially if you spend more online. Which one is better – SBI simplysave or Regalia First? Hi Sid, thank you for such informative posts. Recently I got a SBI simply click card based on your site’s article. I am a very heavy online spender (esp. in amazon) I got a decent limit of 2.94L. I have a HDFC Money back card which was a free re-issue of my earlier HDFC platinum card. The limit in this card is 1.8L. But offline rewards are only. 0.4%. I also have a ICICI platinum card with a. I need a good card for offline spends which gives me at least. 1%. Do I stand a chance in getting an upgrade to HDFC regalia credit card(not the first)? My monthly net after tax and PF is. 93K. I used to have a salary account with HDFC but not anymore. Upgrade to Regalia first then Regalia. For 1% even HDFC debit card would do for offline spends 🙂 Obrigado pela resposta rápida. I will check with HDFC if I qualify for a free upgrade to Regalia First. I have this moneyback card for a year now and this was a lifetime free upgrade from my platinum card. HDFC Regalia First vs Money Back. which one to prefer for expenses like online shopping, movies and grocery shopping etc. Regalia First is the Premium card. sir please confirm me regalia first is better credit card or all miles. I have HDFC Business regalia. I want to apply for PP. i have got an sms with the link for the same. By what time will i get my pass. Also do i need to pay for the priority pass membership. do i need to pay for the lounge access via PP? i have heared that membership and access via hdfc priority pass is chargable? is it true? I already own a CitiBank Premiermiles VISA Signature card and an HDFC Moneyback Card. This gives me some benefits for travel. I have now been offered an upgrade to Diners Rewardz or to Regalia First, both have the fee waived off. There are a few points for consideration, which I would like to get help on: 1. 10x offer on Diners Rewardz : Do we always get this? There is another 1 on 1 Movie Ticket offer. I know this is promotional, but I want to know how often is this promotion there? Also Diners offers these points through a lot of partners. 2. Conversion rate of reward points – 0.75 on Diners Rewardz vs 0.40 on Regalia First : Will this difference always be there? On the other hand, 3 points on Diners Rewardz vs 4 points on Regalia First, which is better in the longer run? 3. Priority Pass vs Diners Complimentary Access: Keeping in mind my Citibank VISA Signature, which way should I go? Is the Citibank VISA Signature Lounge Access going to cover enough lounges? Is it enough for my needs? I don’t fly very often, but I do shop and pay online a lot. 4. Upgradability and Limit Enhancement : My RM told me that once I go the Diners Club way, I can’t get a Regalia in the future. I want to know if this is true. Will I have to upgrade to Diners Club Premium and Black even if I want a Regalia in the future? I want to keep this as a factor. Keeping these points in mind, someone please help me out between the two choices. 1. Nothing is permanent, but it will be there for quite sometime. 3. Too big to answer in a comment! 4. No, but i can’t confirm as i haven’t done such conversions. I have recently got HDFC regalia first credit card. And I am travelling abroad in next 2-3 days. For accessing international lounge I came to know that I need to have Priority Pass. On inquiring, came to know that I can apply once I carry out certain number of transactions and then I can apply for it. I have below understanding: - & gt; For accessing domestic lounges – I don’t need priority pass. I can use my visa signature card. - & gt; For accessing international lounges – I need priority pass. Visa signature card won’t be of any use there. Can you please confirm above understanding? Yes, you’re all correct. From the general feedback I have is that if I user my HDFC Regalia First credit card at stores outside India, then the fee that is applicable is minimum for this card. So, it would be helpful if someone can explain giving an example (I a m visiting malaysia, so my transactions would be in MYR). Since I am traveling with my family I suspect my expenditure would be high (70-80K atleast). Also, I was wondering whether to get HDFC multicurrency Forex card (need to spend around Rs. 500 + taxes extra) for this trip or just to use HDFC Regalia First credit card instead. Any advise from experts? Which one is better HDFC forex card or Regalia first credit card? Please suggest. I visited Plaza Premium Lounge (Domestic) at the KIA, Bangalore on 16-Mar-2017. I used my Priority Pass to visit the lounge. Although, I could’ve just used my Regalia Fist credit card but I wasn’t aware of a parallel lounge access program by Visa. Note, that I wasn’t charged anything on my credit card for the visit. So as of 16-March, I was able to access domestic lounges free of cost. Looks like even now HDFC is not charging on PP for domestic access, but they’ll eventually do it in coming days. They likely don’t want to give surprises to its members all of a sudden. 😀 I was offered an upgrade from hdfc signature to regalia first but only 20% of my existing reward points would be carried to the upgraded card. Is this is a good deal. Your points in terms of regalia conversion will be transferred. Rupee value before and after conversion should be same. Check the coneversion for signature and regalia in terms of rupee. Its mentioned as 8 Points/150 for Spends on Dining (Stand-alone restaurants only). What they mean by Stand-alone restaurants only ? Your blog has helped me a lot in understanding the CC world, it was after reading your blog I applied and got Regalia first on FD (2 lakhs FD), I got a limit of 1.5 lakhs for the same on the card, I also got PP. Its been more than 6 months that I got the card. Now this limit is not sufficient for me, my current ITR is at 6L, I realised that limit enhancement is not available for cards based on FD, so my questions are : 1) will it be possible to submit my ITR to enhance my limit on my card (this is an FD card). 2) Since this is an FD card will I be eligible for Up-gradation based on my ITR now or in the future say 1 year from now. (its been more that 6 months that i got this card), 3) Or will i be asked to close this FD card and then be issued a new Card based on my ITR. got an email saying regalia and regalia first pp domestic charge will be from may 25. hai siddarth my take home comes around 1.45lakhs/ month(govt doctor) when i applied for cc they issued me regalia first (febrauary) with 1.2 lakhs , and iam also having citi rewards card with 1 lakh limit which iam using for last three years. i want to enhnce my credit limit on HDFC when i should apply again for limit enhancement. iam 34 now and my usage comes around 40-50k / month with CIBIL 795. You can apply for LE after 6 months, you may ask for “Doctors Regalia” Yes bank with 3l limit issued in march 17. & amp; axis with limit 1.5L (3 yrs old) The Hdfc branch said regalia first ltf (based on axis) now or you can get regalia in Sep (based on yes card) Should i get this regalia first card now or go for regalia? Should I wait and not look credit hungry by applying for a new card in 3 months from march? On HDFC bank my rewardz regalia website, when you clicked on “mastercard offers” section it previously used to specifically say that Regalia First credit card is not eligible for mastercard lounge program but I checked the website today, it says that both regalia and regalia first card are eligible for 2 free lounge access per quarter. Can someone confirm who have regalia first mastercard credit card whether they are able to access airport lounges under the mastercard lounge program?? Ótima informação. Just wanted to ask – which variant of regalia first is better – visa or mastercard?? I read above that mastercard variant is not eligible for lounge access and only visa has lounge access for regalia first. My RM says that they dont have any control which variant the HQ might issue. O que fazer?? How to ask them to issue me a visa variant? Visa would do. You can ask them post issuance for card variant change. There has been some changes in the terms and conditions of hdfc bank with mastercard recently. It seems that now regalia first credit card are eligible for lounge access under mastercard. I initially applied for Diners club premium which they approved but on further reading about its acceptance issue across various merchants/Online i asked them to change it to Regalia First. I just received HDFC regalia first Master card even though i had asked for VISA during the application process. Are there any benefits in getting it changed to VISA ?I am not frequent traveler so not worried about lounge access much. No difference for your req., stay with MC 🙂 Only difference is of Visa Blockbuster weekend offer where one can get discount of Rs.500 on tickets + food. I have just realised as i have 8-9 credit cards but none Visa Signature which i upgraded to Diners Black. Which is a better credit card between the following: 1. hdfc regalia first vs diners club premium. 2. hdfc regalia vs diners club black. I also don’t have any visa Signature hence was looking for this one. Have ICICI Coral but i guess that’s VISA Platinum card which has Buy one get One movie ticket offer.. Newly launched SBI “Prime” is way better than HDFC Regalia First now! I currently hold a Moneyback MC Credit Card from HDFC Bank. They are offering me 2 options to upgrade. 1) JetPrivilege World Card. 2) Regalia First MC. I am inclined towards the Regalia First card as: 1) I do not travel much – maybe 4 -5 flights in a year. Most of Jetprivilege rewards come only when you book on jetairways which is anyways costlier and less punctual than other airlines. 2) The lounge access is equal in both cards. 3) I think if I go with Regalia First, then there is a clear path to upgrade to Regalia card which is what I want. 4) Most of my spends are retail in nature. 5) I spend a lot on movies – I think I will get better movie offers from Regalia first. Please help me decide which card I should go for. Do we get domestic lounge access for add on card with regalia first. Btw great work in updating the masses with such useful information. With the latest downgrades, is it worth staying with regalia first? All 2x reward points removed, each point is 30p. Even I am holding regalia first. Considering the devaluation in the recent past, I am thinking about replacement of this card. I hold a salary savings account with HDFC. Any good suggestions (CardExpert Team) for a primary card at annual CTC 14 LPA. I have been offered HDFC regalia first credit card and they asked me for insurance coverage to sign up for 1 year to get life time free card Is it so?Also want to know which card is better i.e Master or visa card variant.please let me know at the earliest. Having some query in HDFC infinia card. I am using HDFC regalia first credit card for the past three months with 8L credit limit and i want to get upgraded to infinia card. May i know the chances of getting upgrade to infinia card. and what is the criteria for the approval based on my existing card. I am a very active reader of your blog. I browse your page twice a day in search of new contents. My dream is to get a diners black card in future. 6 months ago I upgraded my All Miles ( 1.5 lakhs ) to Regalia First ( 1.8 lakhs limit) upon your recommendation . Now I want to upgrade my Regalia First to Regalia and my latest ITR is of Rs. 4.1 lakhs and my CIBIL is 777 . I have a virtual preferred ac. and also a Insta Jumbo Loan of Rs. 1.85 lakhs from last 4 months. My total spends in last 6 months was Rs. 4 lakhs only. My questions are :- 1. What are my chances of upgrade ? 2. How can I make sure that I get Master Card variant ? 3. How much limit can I expect ? 4. If upgrade gets successfull than again after six months i.e., on March 2018 can I ask for limit enhancement with my same ITR ? More Relationship value with bank = Easy approval. Yes, you can ask LE with same ITR every 6 months, provided spends are good. Though LE will be usually less in such cases. With my current relationship value do you think I can get Regalia ? My application for upgrade as well as limit enhancement both got denied because my income is not sufficient for Regalia. Feeling very sad. What to do Sid ? You may need to at-least increase your relationship value to Preferred with good balance and try after 6 months. I already have a virtual preferred account from 2.5 years . last week I applied to Regalia first, ( Upgraded from Diner Rewardz – No use now) through bank branch. There was one section in card selection form “Get a Life Time Free/ First Year Free Credit Card. by availing one of the below-mentioned products ” I have selected SmartPay since it is free. Do they provide LTF credit card as mentioned in the form. Hi, I’m using Regalia first from last 12 months, and i need to access “Plaza Premium Lounge (International Departures) New Delhi” next month, and i just read the new condition ” The Primary card holder can avail 3 complimentary access to International Priority Pass lounges “OUTSIDE INDIA” in a calendar year. Can i access PP Lounge, New Delhi with Priority Pass free access. Hi Gaurav, I feel even on international airports in India, you cann’t use PP Lounge free of cost, You can use your Visa/Master card for that. PP issued by HDFC gives free access outside India only. I would like to know is it possible to get regalia first with a fixed deposit,as I don’t have an account/credit card from hdfc.I hold credit card from SBI. I had spent and need to spend more on international transactions, this is the very reason for opting regalia first and i also found it would be useful for domestic use. if yes how much limit is possible? Have tried to upgrade from All Miles (Credit limit -6.29 Lakhs)to Regalia for almost Three months, and finally have accepted auto upgrade for my exiting All miles to Regalia First on 21st August. Received card on 26th August and have completed 4 transactions and placed request for P.P on 29th August. Received Priority pass on 3rd September with only 3 free visits. Hope you are in good health! I got a chance to see your page today and love your spirit and your responses to each and every individual posting here! I am also one of them, completely ignorant of the credit card world. I have just been issued a credit card Regalia first ( Master card) by HDFC and already hold a debit card Visa platinum by HDFC. Am one of their preferred customer. Please pardon me for my ignorance and can you let me know on what items must I use debit card like petrol, movies etc and for what credit card eg. Lounge etc. I am also travelling with my wife abroad in a few days, is there something I must do to avail free lounge access or it is by default. And if there will be extra charges on using my cc abroad. Looking forward to hearing from you & desde já, obrigado. Use credit card anywhere & everywhere, so you get opportunity to upgrade in future which may in-turn get you better rewards! Thank you for your quick revert to my query. Could you also tell me about the free airport lounge usage policy on the card & does it come complimentary ? they promised life time free card if I do 3 payzapp transactions even on 10 Rs , but they deducted 1299₹ the very first day. Parminder do 3 payzapp transactions and then write and call customer care to reverse the fees. Be admant about the promise. What’s the maximum rewards points that can be earned per month with regalia first credit card under hdfc 10x reward programme. Any idea if the Doctors regalia is on par with Regalia or Regalia first? There is no information whatsoever on website and the bank guys claim it’s on par with Regalia but don’t want to take any risk before applying. Yes it is same as Regalia! I am a salaried employee with no credit history. I applied for YES Bank, Indusind Bank visa signature, SBI Prime etc but all got rejected. (SBI Rejected my application for not having current month’s salary slip! I have given previous two months but they did not agree). AMEX assesd my creditscore as 7 😛 and rejected it right away. Finally thought of trying with HDFC (No relation such as account, FD or anything), next day of application, got a call from their call center, asked details and they said I am eligible for Regalia first, Schedule an appointment the very next day and gave all the documents and filled the application. In another couple of days got an SMS “Card is approved in principle subjected to internal checks and on the same day (29th Oct), a phone number verification and Home address verification was done. Got another SMS today saying the card is approved and I will be receiving it in next 3 days!! They are offering it life time free if I add a smartpay bill. So my queries are, 1. How they approved it without a relationship and credit history where others are rejecting it. 2. Is Regalia First worth as a first Credit Card for a person like me ? i.e, No credit history to improve it? 3. How is the utility bill instruction via Smartpay covers the card fee? I read they are not charging for this facility. Just now I got an email from HDFC bank that today I am eligible for 10X rewards points on retail spends as today is my birthday. But when I try to open terms & conditions page it does not open. So please tell me what might be the maximum upper limit of points . I have Regalia First Visa . I also have a SBI Prime with Rs. 75,000 limit. I swiped Rs. 75,000 just now . Than I paid Rs. 55,110 which was successfull but it still shows that available limit is 0. I have almost 9 credit cards from citibank rewards, icici platinum and indusind platinum being the least used to hdfc regalia first, yes prosperity edge and two from sbi ie sbi simply click and sbi prime visa.. Due to influx of offers recently from hdfc my regalia first was used a lot and i have accumulated a lot of points lately. I am unaware of places to use these reward points effectively as flight booking, air miles and recharge don’t suit me. Siddharth can you please suggest some option.. Can they be redeemed in the bill for cash. Any evouchers that can be availed. Help would be appreciated. Dear HDFC I applied for a credit card but I received a mail tell that my application has been kept on hold as i already have a credit card of HDFC but where as this is the first time i have applied for Hdfc i tried to get in touch with customer care but i couldn’t talk to your relationship manager as IVR SERVICE ask for credit card no which i don’t have my no 8951466643 kindly let me know how to contact customer service and rectify the issue. I have submit the whole amount on due date but still companu has debited me the 450 rs with no reason plz help us. Nobody charges extra for giving you hallmarked gold rate. It is the same rate at which the normal gold is sold. The only difference is that you are ensured of purity when you buy normal gold. Hallmarked gold rate vs normal gold rate. 1) There is no difference in gold prices. 2) You are ensured of purity through hallmarking. 3) You have to take the precious metal to the essaying centres. 4) Not many essaying centres are available in the market. 5) Some have advocated a stringent quality practice that has to established at the testing centres. 6) Still some way to reach the town and smaller cities. 7) Focus must be on swift expansion of the essaying centres so the smaller jewellers can make the best use of it. The one thing that we need to mention is that hallmarked gold rates today in India do not differ in their pricing. What does differ is the quality of the precious metal. In any case what we advocate when you are buying is to buy into very high quality stuff. If there are no charges and difference between the two, it is better to stick to the quality hallmarked products. Investors have voiced their opinion on the poor number of hallmarking centres in the country and this needs to be addressed at the very earliest by the government of India. There is an urgent need to start more hallmarking centres, so quality gold is taken to all consumers in the country. How is gold price today in India per gram arrived at? 1) Currency: If the rupee slides against the dollar gold prices in India per gram becomes expensive. 2) International factors: These include volatile policies, slowing global economic growth, dollar strength against a basket of currencies. 3) Global demand for the precious metal. Demand plays an important role in determining the gold rates today per gram in India. If the demand is not robust prices would fall. On the other hand in times of good demand prices of gold would gain. 4) Interest rates: Not many know, but interest rate is a major factor that impact gold prices in India. When interest rates in major countries like the US go higher, gold rates fall and when they fall gold rates go higher. 5) Government polices: Some time the government also discourages the consumption of gold. For example, this happens when prices are rising and the current account is swelling. These days the government discourages the use of gold, so as to ensure that there is no problems with the deficit. Already the nation has so much gold, what do you with so much that is already there. 6) Prices: High gold prices today in India has also discouraged consumption in the country. Recently, the rates of gold in India ahs moved higher to as much as Rs 29,000 per 10 grams. However, the entire process is more complicated on how to arrive at gold prices in India, which we shall discuss in later passages of the article. Who imports and how is 22 carat gold price in India determined? India does not mine gold. In fact, places like Kolar in Karnataka, which once used to mine gold are now closed. So, India imports almost all of its gold requirements. We use imported gold prices to arrive at 22 carats gold price in India. There are a host of importers of gold into India. Most of these are some of the top government owned banks, private sector banks and also many private companies In fact, the list of private companies have also gone-up in the last many years. Take a look at some of the major imports of gold into India, who ultimately have a hand in fixing the gold prices in India for the wholesale gold rates in India. 1) State Bank of India. 2) Bank of Baroda. 3) Union Bank of India. 4) Bank of India. 5) Punjab National Bank. 7) Minerals and Metal Trading Corporation of India. These are just a small part of the list of gold importers in the country. Once these importers import the gold, they add the component of import duties, VAT etc., and sell the same to some of the wholesalers, who then retail the same to the retailers in the country. Now, how the prices of gold is determined in India, is part of the jobs of the bullion association, who arrives at the live gold prices in India. Though we say live gold prices in India, they do not change very often during the day. Largely the imports take place based on the requirements of the imports. These days imports have gone much higher then they used to be in the past and the government is doing its utmost to curb imports of gold. However, it has not been that easy, given the fact that the desire for gold continue to be solid in India. However, gold demand has almost fallen flat in 2017 and it would be interesting to see where we are heading in the next few weeks. There has also been a concerted effort to largely discourage the use of gold. How far that would be successful is difficult to say. At the moment, we are having a number of schemes, that would help to curb the use of gold in the country. Most of these schemes have their own advantages and disadvantages. Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme: Should you invest in them? If you are looking at physical gold as an investment, we suggest that you do not. Buying into Sovereign Gold Bonds is a better option, as it would eliminate many risks like theft, fraud etc. You can consider buying these gold bonds from one of the listed commercial banks in the country. These bonds gove you an interest rate of 2.75 per cent and are reedemable at the price stipulated by the RBI from time to time. You can also consider buying them from the Stock Holding Corporation and also from the post offices. Many investors suggest that we should not be buying the bonds, given that the interest earned is taxable. However, you get two benefits from them. One is the capital appreciation and the other is regular iinterest. So, both ways it is a win win situation for investors. The question that often arises is the liqudity in these bonds is very poor and hence you may not be able to sell large quantities. The bonds are listed on the NSE and currently the price of these gold bonds is Rs 28,200 per 10 grams. These bonds are almost similar to gold ETFs in the sense that they track gold prices and hence the question that often arises is buying into them worth after all. Yes, the interest is lucrative considering that gold schemes in the country never offer you an interest unless they are some of the schemes of the popular jewelers in the country. It is better to get something out of your gold investments in India, rather then not getting anything out of it. We like the scheme because of its interest rates, while we dislike the scheme because of the lockin period. However, there is a liability that may arise in the case of taxes. So, in short this is not tax free income that would normally assume. How is Gold used in Electronics? Gold is being highly used these days for manufacturing of the electronic material or goods. The reason for using gold in electronics is gold have few properties which we cannot find in other metal such as gold does not corrode or tarnish. In most of the electronic devices, low voltages are used because of which there will be high chances of tarnish and corrode. Usage of gold will reduce this tarnishing and corrosion problem. Gold increases the durability of the components. Gold is used in components such as connectors, switches, relays, connecting strips, etc. Even the electronic goods we use in our daily life have gold in it such as cell phones, calculators, personal digital assistants, global positioning system units, etc. A lot of big electronic appliances such as television also contains gold in it. The main problem comes with this kind of usage of gold is we are losing gold due to this. As the gold used in these items are not being recycled. Though the gold being used in these devices is in minuscule quantity, but in the long term, this will affect. As of now due to the usage of gold in electronics is not giving any big impact on gold rates in India. Putting your gold safely in India. If you are looking to invest your gold safely in India, the best way would be to hire bank locker. However, it is important to remember that bank lockers are expensive, though they are the safest bet around. The hassle apart from the expense is the fact that each time you need the gold, you have to rush to the bank. On Sunday and holiday, you may not have access to the bank locker. Apart from this a fire or theft could be a real possibility when storing your gold. We suggest that the best way would be to buy electronic forms of gold, where you can buy bulk of your gold in the ETFs form. This way you can ensure that you do not have to worry about theft. It is not possible to steal gold in the ETF form. One interesting aspect is that you also end-up tracking gold prices. In any case, if you are looking to buy and save in gold, it is best to buy and save for the long term. Indian gold rates have been on a roll in the last few weeks and it looks like the trend is unlikely to be broken. Storage is a big issue and some of the mechanisms used in the past for storage are not the very best. In fact, some people are known to have stored gold under carpets beds etc, paving the way for theft. There are worries of storage of gold, which has now reached alarming levels. Hence, it is better to invest in gold in small amounts, rather than large, which can lead to theft of the precious metal. The other alternative of course is buying gold ETFs, which is the best and we have explained about this later elsewhere in the article. However, not many are aware of how to buy the same, which is why we have explained the same in length elsewhere. The later is more liquid and offers true value for money to say the very least. These days investors are also wary that if you buy physical gold, you could come under scrutiny, while there are no such problems with physical gold. If you are coming from abroad at least earlier, the one thing that you liked to being into the country was gold. These days there is not so much fascination to get gold into the country. However, there are a few things that you should keep in mind, just in case you are planning to get the precious metal. If you are a male passenger you cannot get gold more than Rs 50,000 in value into the country. On the other hand, if you are a female passenger you can gold valued till about Rs 1 lakh. It is pertinent to note that you can also ask your children to carry gold, as they too are entitled to the import allowance. Now there are a few things that you must note in this regards. There is often a question: how is the duty calculated on gold ie, at what price is the gold. The prices depends on the notified price set by the government of India for the import of gold. You may show the purchase receipt from abroad, but that is of little consequence when arriving at the gold rates in India. However, you cannot bring unlimited quantities of gold into the country. There is a limit of 1 KG that you can get into the country. So, the next time you are getting gold into India remember the various restrictions that are applicable. It is important for the government to always discourage gold imports in the country. This is because gold is paid for in dollar terms and is a drain on the forex reserves of the country. The government has tried to come up with some measures like the sovereign gold scheme to try and ensure that we reduce the consumption of physical gold. However, at all times it may not be possible to do the same and hence alternatives have to be made for the purpose. One has to probably try and figures out a way of using the existing gold that is already in circulation in the country. The one thing that has been very difficult to understand is that the nation has so much gold that is stacked up in households and it is time we explore those opportunities and release the precious metal asdemand continues to be high. New measures that will impact gold prices in India. There are many measures that tend to impact gold prices in India. The foremost among these is the geo-political tensions that take place in and around. Take the simple case of the recent Presidential elections in the United States. First, gold prices rallied sharply and then fell all over again, as investors realized that equity shares were moving ahead and they sold into gold. It later became clear that the new President's policies maybe volatile which further saw gold prices climbing all over again. So, in short global factors may continue to keep gold prices volatile in the next few weeks. Another thing that is worth mentioning is the fact that the big determinant in how gold moves if the movement of the currency. Amongst these the most important is the US dollar. When the US dollar moves higher, gold prices tend to move lower. However, a lot depends on the Indian currency, since it particularly relates to gold prices in India. So, you should always keep an eye on the gold prices in the country before anything else. This is a very big determinant in the prices of gold in India. Stronger rupee means cheaper gold prices, so go ahead and buy if the rupee falls. The recent election of Donald Trump as the US President has also ensured that gold prices remain volatile. The volatility may continue into the current year and the next year as well. However, one must be a little cautious while buying into gold, as there could be some downside risks as well. At the moment it would be difficult to see what those downside risks could be. One of the biggest risks of course would be the fast and furious pace at which the US Federal Reserve raises the interest rates in India. The faster the movement, the faster would gold prices fall. The present import duty on gold. The present import duty on gold in India is 10 per cent. The government keeps altering the import duty, based on the need to curb imports from time to time. In March once again gold imports had soared and there were reports that we may once again see some import duty intervention by the government of India. How far that is true is difficult to say. However, for the long term there is an urgent need to curb gold imports to avoid straining the current account deficit. Any such restrictions tend to have an overall impact on gold consumption in India, given the fact that India is one of the biggest consumers of gold in the world. The last time the government raised the import duty on gold there was some resentment that we saw. We are not sure if that could be a regular phenomenon, but that is now a possibility. In any case, adding to import duties would only end-up making gold even costlier then it is today. This is not in the best interest of consumers and is also not good for the shops that sell jewellery. This is because when demand falls, these shops that sell gold tend to be the worst affected. So, if you are looking to buy gold, do it whenever duties fall. However, guessing when that will happen is probably the most difficult thing to do at the moment. Again, how gold import duties change is a factor of a whole lot of things including the gold price movement in India. If the prices are too high the government would intervene and cut the import duties, which would make gold prices lower all over again. On the other hand if prices are low the government might think of hiking prices of the precious metal all over again. Pricing of gold depends so much on the duties and duties are highly unpredicatble at the moment. Inflation and gold rates in india. It is important to note that inflation does have a major impact on gold prices in India. For example, when inflation goes higher, so does interest rates. When interest rates go higher, gold prices tend to fall. This is because, people and investors rush to sell gold and buy fixed yielding selling government securities. So, one needs to be careful, when investing in gold. Investors must keep it is a natural hedge, against any decline in prices. If you are investing in large quantities it is better to check with experts especially your local jeweller. However, the important thing that one should note is that what matters to the international gold markets is the interest rates in the US. When these go higher, gold prices in India tend to higher, which is why interest rates assume paramount importance in India. Gold in India shows great strength in 2018. Gold prices in India are once again showing signs of bouncing back in 2017. After heavy hammering of the precious metal in 2017, gold is back and how. In India, gold rates have now surged and crossed the rs 28,000 mark. It has now reached Rs 28,200 as international prices of the precious metal has flared. There are a few things that are working for gold in the international markets and hence in India. let us take a look at these things. First, there is immense volatility in the global markets as US President Donald Trump's policies continue to remain volatile. This has led to a risk-off trade, which is pushing gold prices higher. At some stage investors believe that we would see equities fall and gold prices rally even further. The problem right now for gold demand in India is that if prices continue to rally, we might see demand for gold falling. When gold demand falls, it could lead to lead to prices too falling. Overall, this year has been good for the precious metal and 2016 was also good. This is when compared to the yesteryears, when rates for the precious metal have remained little change or flat. It is time to exercise some discretion before buying into gold. The chances of making money are near negative as prices have gone higher. If you are looking to purchase get some bargain deals, as at the moment, we do not see too much in terms of demand nor an upside. How high prices will prevail during the course of the year is not predictable, hence you should buy on declines. In fact, for the last three months, we have been seeing a unlikely decline in gold prices. So, if you are looking at purchasing, we do not know what the appropriate levels would be. 2017 is unlikely to be a great year for gold prices in India, given the fact that gold rates in India have already rallied as much as 1 per cent. For prices to go higher, there would have to be sensitive geo political impact that would make its difference felt on gold prices in India. How QE impacts gold prices in India today? Quantitative Easing, also popularly called QE is another factor that tends to impact gold prices in India, whether 916 22 karats gold or not. Let us give a simple example. When an individual has money he would tend to buy, because he has excess money. In Quantitative Easing, what happens is that there is money supply added to the economy i order to boost consumption. Central Banks across the globe go ahead and buy securities and this leads to excess money supply in the system. This money finds its way into gold investments across the world, thus pushing prices of the precious metal higher. So, an increase in the QE also impacts gold prices in India today. This impact all forms of gold including the popular 916 gold prices in India. Of course, these days there is a very little of QE happening across the globe. The US has completed its QE phase, though there is some kind of easing that is happening in countries like Japan and Europe through the central banks in those countries. What is important though is the policies in the US, since heavy demand and investments come from that country. At the moment it looks very unlikely that we would have QE in that country. Once the global economy which is flush with money faces some liquidity problems, we could see gold prices falling in trade. Apart from QE there are also other measures that leads to gold rallying and one should be aware of these factors. All in all, it is a long haul for gold going forward and a much wait and watch approach. With the withdrawal of QE, we may see a decline in prices of the metal. With the US now winding down its QE programme there is a possibility that we might see an impact on gold prices in India. The magnetic test to check gold purity. There are many ways to check the purity of gold in India. Among these one of the popular ways to check gold is the magnetic method. This is known to be far more convenient than other ways like acid. Just imagine for an acid test you need to carry the acid around. The magnet is far more easier as you can carry a small piece easily in your pocket. The beauty of this mechanism is that it is very easy to understand as well. The simple logic is that if gold is mixed with a metal, it will immediately get attracted to the magnet. Having said that the skin test also is quiet popular, if you hold the gold jewellery in your hands, it will discolour if it is not genuine. On the other hand, the one that is real will never, thus showing and proving the purity of gold. This is also a relatively simple way to understand and inspect when buying gold in India. Factors that influence gold prices in India. There are many factors that impact gold prices in India. The first is the international factors, which largely depend on a host of other factors. These include demand and supply for the precious metal. Demand of course comes from places like the Gold Exchange Traded Funds, as also from the central banks in the country. Now on the supply side, if there are more discoveries and more amount of mining that is done, it leads to further selling pressure in the metal. Now, this comes to the usual international factors that impact the prices. There are also a host of other factors that can leave you worried when it comes to gold prices in India. Among these include the various policies that the government would engage in, including the duties and taxes that are made applicable from time to time. One interesting fact that is worth mentioning is that gold prices have always rallied giving decent returns to investors. So, it does not matter whether there is demand or not. In the long run gold has always generated enough wealth and has helped investors make some quick money. So, if you are a long term investor, it can help you make money. However, lately the rise in the precious metal has been too fast and furious and hence returns in the future may not be forthcoming. However, it is unlikely that there would be many factors that influence gold prices and they all work in tandem with each other. How the government alter its policies is also crucial in the wake of changes that we see to the way its policies change. Let us give an example. After the Union Budget, there were some modifications made to the excise and other duty changes that were done. This resulted in gold prices soaring higher in India and also in turn impacting the sales of jewellery in India. In fact, as we write interest rates in the US are hardening and this could impact gold prices in India. So, you need to be a little careful of runaway rates in gold. Is inflation a big determinant of gold rates in India. Inflation is not a major determinant of gold rates in India today. Individuals do argue that when inflation moves higher, along with them, you also have things like gold prices going higher. In fact, the only time gold prices go lower is when inflation goes higher. Let us give you an example. When inflation goes higher in the US, at such time gold prices fall, as the US Federal Reserve gears up to hike interest rates in the US. This leads to a phenomenon of selling in gold, as rising interest rates means individuals rush to sell gold and buy instruments where the interest rates are higher. This would typically be your sovereign bonds in the US. So, gold and US Bond yields move in different directions. hese are secure and offer you regular interest, which makes them great attractive bets for the long term. So, those who say that inflation and gold prices move in the same direction would be getting their statement wrong. The big determinant for gold in India in 2017 would be the direction of interest rate movements in the US, which should be higher and hence the prices of gold going lower are rather high. So, watch before investing. One thing we wish to state is that inflation in India is not a big determinant for gold prices across the world. Global inflation matters because of several reasons. The first is that inflation rise means interest rates rise, which leads to higher interest rates and hence an impact on gold prices. So, watch for this factor very carefully. So, overall you need to watch for inflation carefully, which could push interest rates higher in the country. Large amount of gold remains undiscovered. Gold has always attracted the fancy of people around the globe and Indians love gold. However, you will get plenty of stories on gold, but, did you know that there is a large amount of gold that remains undiscovered. There are many estimates to show that as much as 80 per cent of the gold presently remains not discovered at all. Now, where is this gold? Nobody seems to have an idea, but, if there is adequate gold demand, it is unlikely that we will see pressures for gold in India, given the fact that there would also be good supply. However, one of the best things that there is a lot of gold available in the world in the form of gold coins, bars and jewellery, which can be melted, so there are no issues at all with regards to the same. How much of this is pure gold, is always the big question, given the fact that jewellery is always alloyed with gold. Gold - A special niche. Gold has created a special niche for itself. Most people consider it very simple to even sell, forget the buying of the precious metal. Let us give an example by comparing it with other asset classes. For example, it is very easy to buy and sell gold, as compared to real estate and even to some extent shares. Many individuals in the smaller towns and cities, may not even know what shares are. But, they do not what gold is and how to sell and buy the same. This is one advantage of buying and selling gold in India. It is east to understand and hence small time investors tend to get swayed by this. In fact, we believe that this is a big niche area for the precious metal. We advocate that you buy into gold on every dips as it is very difficult to predict prices of the metal. Apart from being a special niche as discussed, it is also bought because people enjoy hoarding the precious metal. The reason for hoarding the precious metal, is because Indians have always loved gold, and have a strong desire to own the metal. Over the years, this has also become a tradition in many households in India, to try and buy and store gold for a marriage or a ocassion. This is also a niche for gold in India, irrespective of gold rates in India. Method for buying gold coins in India. You can buy gold coins in India in various grams. Interestingly, you get all kinds of weight for buying gold coins. these include 1 grams, 2 grams, 4 grams and upto 10 grams. There are various other ways to also buy the precious metal. You get gold in various designs like images of different godesses as well. Before buying gold you have to ensure the purity. Ideally, you can buy gold at some of the popular centres in India. If you buy gold by credit card there is also a tax that you would end-up paying on the precious metal. So, you need to be slightly careful. Also, if you are looking to buy the coins we suggest that you do so from the popular jeweler shops in the country. Another option is to look at bars, but, these are likely to be pretty expensive. If you are buying gold coins a good option would also be to look at some of the banks, which also tend to supply these coins. Some of them are Swiss gold coins and the packing is pretty much tamper proof. In short, you have the option of buying from several places. In all cases it is very important to check for purity of the metal. Also, do not forget to take a receipt while buying gold, as this may hold you in good stead, when you want to sell the precious metal. Go only for the long term buying of the metal. you can also buy gold coins, gold ETFs gold bars, soveraign gold bonds and the choices are plenty, it all depends on your own desire to own the kind and variety that is available. We suggest that you could opt for buying gold coins through the many banks in India, as most of them provide the Swiss variety and come with tamper proof cover. Demand for Gold in India: According to information from the World Gold Council demand for gold from India was subdued last year. Nonetheless, India managed to once again overtake China in terms of gold consumption. In fact, jewellery demand in India has shot up significantly in the last few years, pushing demand for gold higher. Despite the fact that there have been good substitutes like e-gold and gold ETFs, as an alternative to buying physical gold, investors continue to buy the precious metal in its present form. The government has been discouraging gold imports through duties in order to curb the current account deficit. Last year it imposed a series of duty hikes, which are still in place to discourage the import of gold. In the last few years, gold price movement has been sluggish, and last year the precious metal broke a 12-year winning streak. But, it has given substantial returns ever since the Lehman crisis erupted in 2008, which saw gold price in India rally. How far it would sustain is difficult to say. Honestly speaking, going foward we do not see any agressive bets on the metal happening in the near future. How gold rates in India change? Gold rates in India , depend on a host of factors, including international gold prices, currency rate movements and also the local tariffs. But, the singlemost important reason for gold prices to go higher, is international prices. When international prices of gold move higher, gold rates in India see a change. The gold price today, would always be different then what you see yesterday. Gold prices in India, however, do not change on a Sunday, as there is no trading that is done. If you are looking at todays India gold rate , do not forget to visit our portal and check the updated rates. Now let us understand each of the factors separately. When inflation goes higher, gold prices tend to fall. This is because there are worries that interest rates would rise when inflation gains momentum in the economy. One big determinant of gold prices in Indis is the currency movement, so watch for early morning trade of the movement of the rupee against the US dolllar, which is another big factor. The biggest of these of course is the ability to of international prices to move. Greater the political tensions, threats of was and other factors, bigger would be the momentum of gold movement in India. This is because we see global demand gathering steam, which is why the domestic prices also tend to move in tandem. All in all, it is a good move for the precious metal in the coming days. So always check the rates before you buy into gold. Why we need to invest in Gold in India? There are plenty of reasons to invest in gold in India. The first and the foremost is that it is a hedge against any fall in asset classes like real estate and equities. This means that it is one of the investments that provides you an excellent opportunity for diversification. There is no better instrument then gold, when it comes to diversification of assets. So, if you are an investor, who does not wish to put all his eggs in one basket, this has to be the investment that you need to consider. If you have not invested in gold, you are probably committing a mistake. It also provides some respite against bad times. The other advantage of gold is that it is very liquid, making it among the better asset classes, then something like real estate, which is much difficult to sell in times of neccessity. So, there are very few choices. Of coures, in India you tend to pay taxes, which thus reduces your overall returns from the precious metal. Has gold investment in India delivered returns? Gold as an investment has given decent returns in the last one decade. In fact, gold prices in India have almost grown three times in the last 8 years, which is a superb set of returns. In fact, according to statistics available gold has given higher returns even in the United States. For example, the returns from this asset class has been better than US Government treasuries for alost 2 decades now. Going ahead analysts do not expect that trend to break anytime soon. In fact, the precious metal has delivered higheer returns than even Eurobonds or Japanese debt. the metal is being preferred as a measure of diversification in case other asset classes remain risky. It is also very liquid, including Gold Exchange Traded Funds, which are the most riskiest. Therefore, it makes sense to stay invest in gold in India at the prices today for a long term. Production of gold. India gold prices today, tend to fluctuate also based on the production of the precious metal. Once the largest producer of gold in the world was South Africa. In fact, there are reports that 60 to 70 per cent of the gold in circulation today has come from the mines of South Africa. However, the trend has very much changed now. Today, the world's largest producer of gold is China. The country mines significant amounts of gold which has made it by far the largest producer. The trend of increase in production of the precious metal from China is likely to cotinue. If production of gold falls, it is highly likely that we may see a drop in the rates of gold in India today . Interestingly, demand has matched-uop with production, which is why the prices of the metal has not declined. How is gold brought into India? India as we all know does not mine gold. In fact, we never were the big players in mining the precious metal, unlike China, which is now the biggest miner of gold. So, how does India get all the gold. The government has appointed a certain number of banks that get this gold into India. So, in short they have been allowed to import gold. Now, after they import this gold, they are given to the distributors, who in turn supply the same to the large retailers or jewelers in the country. This is used by them as bars and coins to make the gold jewelery that we wear. However, there is an element of metal that is added as gold will break if used in the purest form. It is this mixture thay determines, how pure or impure gold is. This is why gold is sometimes brought into India from abroad. Why checking gold prices today is important? Checking gold prices today is extremely important for the simple reason that gold is no longer the commodity that it used to once be. In fact, gold prices today are nowhere, where they were about 10 years ago. So, even a small variation in prices can lead to a big loss. It is therefore important to check the prices of the precious metal before buying into the same. It is also important to compare prices with each jeweller. Remember, that gold prices in certain cities are determined by the gold jewelers association and the prices annnounced accordingly. However, it is unlikely that between the local goldsmith the prices would defer. However, the larger and the more reputed jewelers may tend to charge more for making charges. So, you need to be a little weary on that count. If you believe that the making charges of gold and jewelery is significantly high, we suggest that you look at other goldsmith, where you would get a decent price. Hence, it is always a good idea to compare, rather then paying huge amounts. How much is one tola gold? Gold being weighed in tolas was one of the most popular ways to describe gold buying in India. Investors or consumers often spoke of 1 tolas gold rate is today Rs 25,000. However, these days tola has been replaced by grams, which has been largely accepted by most for buying and selling the precious metal. This brings us to the question: How much is one tola gold? The answer is simple: One tola gold is today 11.6 grams. So, if you are purchasing 1 kg of the precious metal, you would find approximately Rs 85.7 tolas gold. So, if you want to know what would be the cost of the precious metal for 1 tola, then you need to simply multiply the per gram cost of Rs 26,000 by 11.6 to arrive at the final cost. This of course changes everyday in line with the todays daily gold rates in India. Hassles with melting your old gold jewellery. If you are considering melting your old gold ornaments and making news ones, just examine, if the same is necessary. Do it only if it is necessary or else you would be wasting a lot of money. If you are asking us why? then we have plenty of reasons to tell you why. First of all what do you do with the precious stones that were in the ornaments. Who will value them? Secondly, there is a lot of wastage charges that are involved. For example, you could lose as much as 5 to 10 of the value of your gold on making charges that you paid and also the wastage charges. This is by no means small losses and the amounts are really significant. So, it is advisable to make sure that you do not melt gold. If you are doing so, it makes sense to melt the same at a reputed shop. How gold buying is sinking in India? Physical demand for gold is sinking fast in India and there is little doubt about it. Demand trends from the World Gold Council show that the trend is unlikely to reverse. Over the years there has been on assault from gold on all fronts. The government of India to reduce gold consumption has increased duties and taxes. This is more to reduce the country's current account deficit. Demonetization some say has only increased the demand for gold. One cannot be sure of that. There are reports of huge investments taking place in Gold from Hyderabad, but, one cannot be sure of that. Then came the various ways to discourage physical gold consumption, including the sovereign gold schemes. We may soon have. Tracing gold prices in India in the last 5 decades. Gold imports into India accounts for almost 10 to 15 per cent of all imports into the country and is next only to imports of crude oil. Gold rates in Indie have over the years gained significantly in the past 5 decades. In 1966 for example, gold was traded at Rs 83. This moved up significantly higher to Rs 432 per 10 gram. This was a decade in which gold prices simply gave almost 5 times returns to investors. By 1986 gold prices have moved up even further to cross the Rs 2,000 mark and was at Rs 2,200. As there was an Asiam emerging market crises gold moved even further to Rs 5,600 by 1996 and by 2006 and it was at Rs 8,400. But, the steepest gains for gold came thereafter, at the heart of the Lehman Brothers crisis, where gold rallied from levels to almost Rs 32,000. The gold rates in India are now closer to the Rs 27,000 mark. How gold prices move in India? Gold prices in India today tend to move based on international prices. They in turn move on currency fluctuations and a host of other factors like decision on interest rates and inflation. However, physical demand also plays a big role in the movement of gold. If there is excess liquidity in the system gold could move higher, as Gold Exchange Traded Funds tend to mop-up gold. Another important factor is how central banks make their purchases. Today, as we all know, the United States has the highest gold reserves in the country. When many central banks start buying gold it tends to affect gold prices across the globe including India. However, they rarely sell in tandem, to avoid disrupting prices of the precious metal. So, all these factors influence gold rates in India today . Rural gold demand in India remains soft. Gold demand in India in the rural areas continued to be soft this year. This was largely due to the income hit in the farming sector. Also, the government has been making every effort and has plans to double farmer income in the next 5 years. This should see good demand for gold coming in from the rural areas of India. In fact, it is important to point out that bulk of the demand for gold jewellery in the country comes from the rural areas. Though the size of each transaction may not be too high, the fact remains that on account of the gold volumes, this makes the rural areas of great significance for overall gold demand in the country. While there is no definite statistics some estimates put the demand as high as 60 per cent from these areas vis a vis the urban areas. How to sell gold in India? Hence, we can with some certainty say that the precious metal has given tremendous returns in the last so many years. Purity of gold. The gold we see or purchase in the market is mixed or alloyed with some other metals such as copper, nickel, silver, palladium and zinc. Considering with the least or cheapest gold alloyed with silver & copper is called pink gold or rose gold mixed with silver or copper sometimes is called the green gold and then comes white gold which is mixed with palladium, nickel & zinc which is white gold and the costlier one is the yellow gold alloyed or mixed with silver copper and zinc. The fact is that nobody can predict the prices of gold in 2017. What we do know that the metal is going to see tremendous amount of volatility going ahead. Of course, if it is the physical form you would barely get the actual cost of the gold, as there would be numerous charges that you would lose on, including the making charges. the other advantage is that it is a perfect hedge against inflation, as also against political turmoil. Hence, if you have not invested in gold, you are making a big mistake. At least an individual should have partial amounts in gold as investment. And yes, you can get instant loan against gold, which is not possible in other asset classes like real estate, which will under go valuation and stuff. So, gold loans will also serve your purpose in times of distress. The various gold buying options in India. There are various gold buying options in India. Some of these include Gold ETFs, Sovereign Gold bonds Physical gold coins and bars and physical gold jewellery. Each has its own buying advantages and disadvantages. We like the gold bonds, because we believe that there is no other gold instruments in the country that offer you interest rates. At 2.7 per cent interest rate on the Sovereign Gold Bond, it remains the best bet. The gold bonds for investments had opened a few weeks back. You can also buy the Gold ETFs, but, if you are looking at investment, we strongly suggest that you avoid buying physical gold. There has to be at least some portion of your investment that has to be in gold, which is why buying the gold bonds is the best thing to do. You can also buy the gold ETFs that are listed on the National Stock Exchange. Not a bad deal to do at all. How gold rates in India will move in 2018? Gold rates in India would depend on a number of factors, including international gold rates, local tariffs and also the currency movement against the dollar. One of the singlemost important factors for changes in gold prices is international gold rates. These depend on a number of factors like interest rates in the US. When interest rates in the US go up, gold prices fall and vice versa. What has happened in the last few weeks is that there are worries that Donald Trump's election could lead to inflationary pressures in the economy. This in turn could lead to higher inflation and lower gold prices. The belief is that Donald Trump's policies could lead to fiscal expansion and hence a pressure on interest rates and a sharp drop in the price of gold. Taxes on gold in India. Do you know that you are liable to pay taxes on gold in India. If you buy and sell gold at a profit, there is a capital gains tax that would need to be paid. On the other hand, if your gold value crosses Rs 30 lakhs, you need to pay wealth tax on the same. However, most individuals are ignorant of the same. But, if comes in the purview of the tax authorities you would need to pay significantly higher amounts by way of taxes. There have also been reports that large amounts of gold deposited under the gold monetization scheme will attract income tax, unless the sources of acquiring such gold is clearly told to the income tax authorities. So, remember the tax liability on gold in India. The US Fed Interest rates and gold price movement in India. Interest rates and gold prices never go hand in hand. In fact, when interest rates rise, gold prices fall and vice versa. However, gold prices do not move with interest rates rise across the globe, but, really depends on interest rates in the US. For example, when interest rates in the US rise, gold prices fall. This is because investors move money from gold into fixed interest bearing government bonds. They use the opportunity of high interest rates, along with zero risk, as a major advantage. One thing looks certain at the moment is that we could see a couple of interest rate rise in the next few weeks. When that happens be rest assured that gold prices would dip. If gold prices dip below the Rs 25,000 mark in India, it could be worth buying into the precious metal. However, to make some money it would be advisable to buy gold ETFs. The one important question you should ask when buying gold in India? The one important question that you must always ask yourself before buying gold in India is: How much gold would I actually get? The question arises because there are so many charges on the gold, including taxes and levies, making charges etc. If you buy a gold coin there is a tax element of 10 to 15 per cent, which pushes the cost price higher. Let us explain this with an example. Say you buy 8 grams of gold for Rs 27,000, you have actually paid Rs 3375 per grams, while when you sell you would get only the rate of Rs 2800 per gram. So, you have actually paid extra because of the making charges, taxes etc., on the gold, which has inflated the cost of the precious metal. So, the most important thing to ask yourself is the cost associated with the total cost of buying gold in India. What are the various gold options that we have ? Today, we have various gold saving options, including the sovereign gold bond, gold ETFs, gold investment through gold coins and gold bars. If you are looking at investing, buy gold ETFs, which are the best according to us. Apart from physical gold, today there are many options to buy gold in India, including the popular sovereign gold bonds. If you wish to invest in the gold bonds, they also offer you interest rates. Also, here is no worries of these being stolen like physical gold. Currency movement and gold rates in India. Gold rates today also depend on currency movement. If the rupee falls against the dollar, gold prices in India move-up, assuming that international gold prices are steady. Other factor that affects gold prices are the various duties and levies, which change over a period of time. The government changes the duties and levies on gold, depending on how gold prices move. Showing a declining trend. What is worrisome for gold now is that demand is slowly beginning to decline. Investors are looking at various options to invest in gold, including the not so traditional ETFs. India is the second largest consumer of gold after China. The demand in the country tends to impact rates as well. In a country, which has a liking for the precious metal, it is hard to believe that demand has slumped by a whopping 29 percent in the first three quarters of 2016, as compared to te same period last year. In fact, for the current year gold demand from India may not be more than 750 tonnes, which would be way lower than the 858 tonnes that the contry did in 2015. How far demand for the precious metal would continue to slump is difficult to say. Remember, that live gold prices in India today depend on demand for the metal. 3 reasons to be buying gold. The first is that when there is political turmoil or economic chaos, the first thing to rally would be gold prices. Sadly, if you have not invested in the same you would be a sad person. So, if you need to spread your investment gold is an obvious choice. The second reason to be buying gold is that it has been an excellent hedge against inflation. For example, in the last 8-10 years gold prices in India have tripled. So, they have given you better returns than even fixed interest bearing securities. So there is no reason why you should not be buying into the precious metal. The last and the final reason is that it can be pledged and it is very liquid. For example, you can even take loans by pledging this precious metal. Today there are plenty of people who are willing to buy hypothecated gold. So, its is not a bad idea to stay invested. It has stood the test of times and that cannot be denied at all. There is a drop in demand for gold. Demand for gold in India is gradually declining, if the trend of the first half is another to go by. In fact, according to statistics available with the World Gold Council demand for gold in India fell by a huge 42 per cent. This is not very encouraging to say the least. In fact, the government has also been trying to curb gold consumtion for various reasons, including poor demand for gold from the rural areas. However, in 2017 we might see much better demand owing to the increase in government salaries. The recent move by the government of withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, may also adversely affect the consumption of gold. The near term outlook for gold prices in India also looks a little grim as interest rates across the globe are likely to rise. All in all it may be slightly tough going for gold. Why gold is a good investment bet in India? Gold investments have always stoood the test of time. In fact, prices have tripled in the last eight years or so. This makes gold investment always very attractive. It is also very liquid and can be sold easily. There are gold loan companies, where you can also pledge gold and get a loan. It is therefore always a good proposition to buy gold. Remember, before doing so, it is always a good idea to check the gold rates. We are providing daily gold rates in India. It is always better to buy hallmarked gold in India as one can be ensured of purity. These days most of the gold that we see is hallmarked, which is why one can see some comfort level before buying gold from the large jewelry shops in the country. However, if you have some suspicion on the purity of the gold in India, you can do an inspection. By and large, we find that the precious metal is of the purest form in India. Talking of today's gold rates in India, we believe that prices would remain static, unless we have some definite cues from across the globe. There are various factors that influence gold prices in India, including local tariffs and duties, international prices of gold, which largely depend on interest rates. Apart from this, the movement of the rupee against the dollar, would also impact local prices in India. In any case, before checking gold rates in India, you could go through the latest gold prices in India, which we have provided. Why it is important to restrain yourself when buying gold? It is always a good idea not to buy tto much of gold as investment. One is that you need to pay wealth tax on it beyond a certain sum. On the other hand, it adds to the imports and puts a burden on the country's foreign exchange reserves. Remember, that we do not mine gold and hence India has to import gold. When we import such gold, we have to pay the same in foreign exchange and hence there is a forex outflow that happens. Therefore you can buy the recently introduced sovereign gold bonds, which will also add to your portfolio. You also get an interest on these bonds, and there is no need to worry about storage facilities. The gold bonds are now made easily available through the length and breath of the country. So, go ahead and buy the same. Worth investing in Jewelers gold schemes. It is worth investing in gold schemes of various jewelers in India. This is because it helps you follow a systematic investment plan, whereby you can accumulate gold for marriage or a special ocassion. Earlier, jewelers in the city expected you to pay 10 installments and they would pay one and you could buy precious jewelry. However, these days with interest rates falling, jewelers in the city have altered their schemes. The schemes are not as lucrative as they used to be. However, for the purpose of accumulation of gold for important ocassions this could be a good bet. Some jewelers offer discount on making of gold charges, if you invest in the scheme. However, these schemes are good for those that want to make gold ornaments for marriage or wedding anniversary etc. When to buy gold in India? You can purchase gold anytime in India, depending on the need. However, if you are an investor, it is best to exercise caution. Gold over the last few years has not given any phenomenal returns. So, it is best to buy only as a measure of diversification. If any other asset class like equities or real estate drops, gold would rally. This is because it is considered as a safe haven asset. However, you should not put all your eggs in one basket and spread the risk wth different asset classes. In any case, you can buy gold in India in a very systematic and planned way. How bond yields rise in US is affecting gold prices in India today? Recently, the bonds yields in the US rose, after Donald Trump was elected as the US President. This has pushed gold prices lower to $1222 an ounce from $1282 an ounce. India gold rates today have also fallen in line with the international gold rates. Gold for 22 karats in India has now dippped to Rs 29,800 per 10 grams from Rs 30,300 per 10 grams until about 1-week ago. It is highly likely that we may continue to see a slight downward pressure on gold prices in the coming months. Already, gold prices in India in 2016, have seen a good rally, as compared to the last few years. Those who have invested in gold this year, have ended-up making good money. In fact, you can also do some profit booking in gold, as there has been an upsurge in prices. How to know 22 karats and 24 karats gold difference? Karats is used to measure the purity of gold. 24 karats gold, means all the 24 karats of the precious metal comprises of gold. This is the purest form of gold and it cannot get purer then that. In fact, we can consider it as 99.9 per cent pure. On the other hand, 22 karats means that only 22 karats is pure, which also means that 91.67 per cent purity. one also has 18 karats gold, which is only 75 per cent pure, while the rest comprises of other metals. The one method of also mentioning purity is the fineness in the gold, which is a concept used abroad. Another way of examining the metal is also to look at its colour. 24 karats gold will generally be very bright and alive. 22 karats on the other hand could be slightly less bright and a little more darkish. When other metals are added to gold the colour would also change. For example, white gold has more of nickle as a combination in it. Physical gold vs gold ETFs vs sovereign gold bonds. There are various options when it comes to investing in gold. You can invest in physical gold, as well as sovereign gold bonds and gold ETFS. The latter has its own difficulties. For example, in physical gold, one would have issues pertaining to storage, while there are no such worries, when you buy gold ETFs. Sovereign gold bonds are schemes launched by the government of India as an alternative for buying physical gold. Usually, Reserve Bank of India issues these schemes. There are a lot of schemes and we can buy these schemes either in paper form or you can add these schemes in your portfolio. For physical gold bonds you will not get any interest as a lot of investors calls gold as non-yielding bullion. But if you go for a gold bond you will get some interest over the gold you bought which will be fixed by the Reserve Bank of India. Physical gold also requires storage. The sovereign gold bonds, has its own advantage. For example, you need not worry about theft, while you can also earn an interest rate. All of these instruments track gold prices, which is another big positive. Latest Updates on Gold Price in India. Gold, the precious metal is used for various purposes other than manufacturing jewelry and ornaments. It is also used in the production of glass. A small amount of gold, when suspended in the glass when it is annealed, will give vibrant ruby color. It is also used to manufacture a special glass, for climate-controlled buildings and cases. When a small. amount of gold is coated on the glass surface, it will reflect the solar radiation outwards, thus helping the buildings to stay cool during summer and it will reflect the internal heat inwards, thus helping them to keep warm during winter. A thin film gold is coated on the visor on the helmet of an astronaut's space suit. This thin film helps to reflect much of the very intense solar radiation of space, thereby protecting the astronaut's eyes and skin. 6 de fevereiro de 2018. Globally, the only reason gold might fall is when interest rates trend higher. This has already been factored by the markets leading to a very firm trend in prices. There are hopes that we may see prices gaining good momentum in the coming days if there is a sell-off in equities. However, if equities continue to trend higher, there are unlikely to be any major gains. Overall, gold prices are expected to move in a range of Rs 29,000 to Rs 30,000 for 22 karats.
